Premiership-winning AFL duo caught-up in late-night brawl that saw two people rushed to hospital

Two AFL stars are reportedly involved in a late-night altercation in Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula, leaving two men requiring hospital treatment.

According to The Herald Sun, Steven May and Dion Prestia players were among a group who were ‘harassed and attacked’ at around 2am on Boxing Day.

The incident is said to have occurred near the InterContinental Hotel.

The report claims an ambulance was called to Point Nepean Road and picked up a person who reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries to the upper and lower body.

A second person was taken to hospital, but it is not clear how the person got there. Prestia and May do

Mornington’s Criminal Investigation Unit described the incident as an “affair”, with Victoria Police issuing a statement saying: “No official complaint has been received at this time.”

Sources close to The Herald Sun stated that the premiership-winning pair were among the group and claimed the altercation was started by other parties.

Individuals close to both players also told the outlet that neither was responsible for the injuries sustained by any of the individuals hospitalized.

‘Prestia saw it happen, but he was not involved in any way. They were not involved in any physical altercation,” a spokesperson for Prestia’s team and Richmond said.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted both Richmond FC, Melbourne FC and the AFL for further comment.

There is no allegation that either was involved in the physical altercation.

Prestia and May both joined Gold Coast in the 2010 Draft.

They would both enjoy long spells at the Queensland club, before both players moved to Victoria.

A key defender, May would play 123 games for the Suns before joining Melbourne in 2019.

Prestia had also shared on his Instagram account that he had been enjoying some rest and relaxation on The Mornington Peninsula.
