With a brutal run of festive fixtures this season, Christmas Day will be the only day without a match in a run of eight days of non-stop football.

And while the players are still training on December 25, many have found time for photos with their families to celebrate the Christmas spirit.

Europe's other top competitions are taking a break, but Boxing Day in England remains one of the biggest on the football calendar.

Manchester United's match against Aston Villa is the main event of the day, an 8pm kick-off at Old Trafford, but two of their players are among those not playing due to injury.

Midfielder Casemiro and his wife Anna Mariana enjoyed the festivities with their two children, while defender Lisandro Martinez was pictured with his partner Muri Benitez in front of their Christmas tree.

Both players are expected to be out until mid-January due to an injury crisis for downtrodden Erik ten Hag.

Chelsea's stand-in captain Conor Gallagher put aside the disappointment of their Christmas Eve defeat at Wolves to head to Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland with his girlfriend Aine Kennedy.

The Blues, also in dismal form, play Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on December 27, giving Gallagher and his teammates some extra time off to regroup.

Elsewhere in the football world, Real Madrid don't play until January 3 and while Jude Bellingham has been seen watching his brother Jobe play for Sunderland in England, midfield teammate Toni Kroos has also been photographed enjoying time with his family.

But it's a more demanding day for Jordan Henderson: the England vice-captain has been in the gym amid a slump in his team's form in Saudi Arabia.
