Pregnant Sian Welby is expecting a baby girl! Capital Breakfast host announces baby’s gender as she prepares to welcome first child

Sian Welby has revealed she is expecting a baby girl as she prepares to welcome her first child with fiancé Jake Beckett.

The 38-year-old Capital Breakfast presenter, who previously kept the gender top secret, revealed the happy news in the radio show on Thursday morning.

On what Jordan called North Sian’s “baby shower show,” the mom-to-be couldn’t help but reveal the gender to her fellow hosts and listeners.

She said: ‘I’m at the point where I’m 38 weeks – I’ve still got 11 days to go.

‘Before I go on baby leave I want to share one thing with everyone because I have decided that Capital Breakfast has no listeners, we are a family and I have told those close to me what me and my partner Jake have.

“And I know you’re all invested in it. So I’m going to tell you what I’m eating: it’s a girl!’

Co-star Jordan surprised Sian with a baby Burnley football kit with ‘Baby Welby’ written on the back as she approaches her due date and prepares for maternity leave.

Following her surprise announcement, fellow co-star Chris Stark said: ‘You’re going to have a great time, I have a little girl of my own.

‘She’s nine, but watching her grow up has been so special to me: she’s intelligent and creative. Having a little girl – just having a baby will be amazing.”

Jordan said, “I mean it when I say it: you will both be great parents. You will be the best mother and he will be the best father. Honestly, we’re so happy for you.”

Sian left the breakfast show on Thursday morning and will be replaced by Kemi Rogers during her pregnancy.

The This Morning presenter announced in February that she is expecting her first child with her fiancé Jake, and is due to give birth in June.

Sian said at the time: 'I think I actually want to share something with the group now. Seriously, guys: I have a little announcement for you. I am pregnant! I don't know how I managed to hide it from you for so long, but I did, it's no joke.”

It comes after Sian admitted she is finding it ‘so much harder to give up alcohol than I ever expected’ during her pregnancy.

Last month, Sian headed to Tenerife for a holiday with fiancé Jake and while sharing an insight into their trip on Instagram, she uploaded a photo of Jake enjoying a glass of white wine.

She captioned the post: “Not drinking on this holiday is so much harder than I ever expected.”

The NHS recommends that you do not drink alcohol if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Drinking during pregnancy can cause long-term harm to the baby. The more you drink, the greater the risk.
