Da Silva’s death comes three years after she suffered a miscarriage just five weeks into her pregnancy.

She and her husband were expecting their first child, a boy, and she was rushed to hospital after she bled and her waters broke, Cançao Nova cameraman Ederaldo Paulini told the magazine.

Da Silva underwent an emergency caesarean section, but the child died.

“They didn’t know the gender, she had to see the baby, she saw it was a boy and they named him Theo,” Paulini said. ‘She was very shocked at the time and cried secretly.’

The couple planned to name their second son Rafael.

Da Silva worked at Cançao Nova for 15 years and hosted the network’s evening news, Cançao Nova Noticias.
