Runners too, what conflicting views, myths, advice have you heard? Do we receive sufficient exercise guidance during the 9 months? Filming a bit about this for @BBCBreakfast.’

Her post received a plethora of responses from women sharing their current or past experiences exercising during pregnancy.

One wrote, “I took Body Combat classes until 33 weeks, then I felt it was time to rest! I took Sh’Bam classes up to 6 days before my scheduled CS at 39 weeks. I felt great, had enough energy for the classes I love, lower options were available if I needed them, so why stop?’

While another shared, “The gym — a class called Pregnancy Power Up — was critical to my mental health during pregnancy. Our coach adapted everything to our specific needs (eg I had pelvic girdle pain so couldn’t do asymmetrical things). I was deadlifting, bench pressing, squatting and rowing at 39 weeks!”

‘I’m still working out now that I’m 29 weeks pregnant, but I don’t believe we’re getting enough guidance on what’s safe and everyone has a disagreement. I love working out and hope to continue this until I give birth. Would like to give more publicity to this!’ noted a third.

With another addition: ‘I walked up to 6 months pregnant with both my girls and had an easy delivery. I got weird looks at times, but it helped me have two healthy girls without any complications. Helped my hormones too!’

Emma is currently replacing broadcaster Nina Warhurst on BBC Breakfast as she goes on maternity leave following the birth of her third child.

And off the scenes, Emma has documented her own pregnancy and shared snaps of her growing belly.
