Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that big and powerful people in India and abroad have joined hands to remove him from power.
Speaking at a mega public meeting here, he said: “Mothers and sisters have come here in large numbers. Your struggle and the challenges you face to support your family, Modi has seen this in his home. Today, big and powerful people in the country and abroad have united to remove Modi.”
“But thanks to the blessings of Nari Shakti and Maatru Shakti and Suraksha kavach (security armor), Modi can continue to fight challenges.”
“Serving and protecting mothers, sisters and daughters is Modi’s priority,” he said, listing the measures his government has taken for the welfare of women in a decade, such as supporting their self-help groups and setting up ‘Lakhpati Didis’.
Former minister K Sudhakar is the BJP candidate from Chikkaballapur, while alliance partner JD(S) M has fielded Mallesh Babu from neighboring Kolar.
The Prime Minister said that the first phase of voting in Lok Sabha on Friday went in favor of NDA and ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Targeting the INDIA bloc, he said the opposition alliance currently has no leader and no vision for the future, and that “their history has been a history of cheating.”
Modi praised JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, who shared the stage with him, for his energy and commitment at the age of 90 and said he too draws inspiration from him.
“His (Gowda) dedication to Karnataka, the ache in his heart for the plight of Karnataka today and the ‘josh’ in his voice, are the testimony for Karnataka’s bright future,” he said, thanking Gowda for his “blessings” . .
The JD(S) joined the NDA in September last year.
Karnataka will go to polls in two phases. While 14 Lok Sabha segments in the southern parts of the state will vote on April 26, the remaining 14 constituencies in the northern parts will vote in the second phase on May 7.
