A Melbourne mother will shower their kids with gifts for years to come after she took home an eye-popping $50 million in the $100 million Powerball drawing last night with a ticket she bought at the very last minute.
The woman from Melton, in the west of the city, had one of two first division winning entries in Powerball draw 1420 on Thursday night.
The other division one winning entry was a 10 member syndicate from NSW. The winning ticket was sold at Rosebery North Newsagency in Sydney’s south.
The Melbourne mother took a little longer to discover her newfound fortune because some of her contact details, such as her email, were incorrect.
She was heard cheering at her desk at work on Friday morning after an official from The Lott called and broke the news of her life-changing win.

“This is absolutely life-changing. This will help me take care of my children. My children mean the world to me, and I will be able to prepare them for the future.’
The woman said she was also looking forward to quitting her job.
Melbourne’s newest millionaire bought her Powerhit entry online through OzLotteries.com – one of The Lott’s authorized resellers.
