Lucky Aussie who won $100M in the second biggest Powerball jackpot ever reveals his big plans – but his wife disagrees!

  • Vader, from Bankstown in southwest Sydney, hits the jackpot
  • He thought it was excitement and slapped his face in case he was dreaming
  • Plans to buy a house and keep working but his wife wants to keep her job

A dad burst into hysterical laughter and slapped his face several times to make sure he wasn’t dreaming after being told he’d won the $100 million Powerball jackpot.

The mystery man, from Bankstown in southwest Sydney, was convinced lottery bosses had the wrong person when they called to reveal the life-changing news – after initially missing their call.

He plans to buy a new house with the money and still wants to keep working, but his wife is adamant that they should both retire.

‘Wait a second! Wait a second!’ he laughed hysterically into the phone.

‘Oh! Oh! Are you sure?! Do you have the right person?’

A dad from Bankstown in South West Sydney won the Powerball jackpot, with the winning numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, 14, 22, 23 and 17 being the Powerball

‘This is incredible! I won $100 million!? Am I dreaming? I’m a millionaire now?!

“Can you say this again?! Oh dear. Oh my God. I can not talk. I feel dizzy. I hit my face twice! It feels tight!’

The man revealed that his wife was in shock and they would struggle to sleep after hearing the life-changing news.

His ticket was the only Division 1 winner in Thursday night’s Powerball, Australia’s second-biggest ever lottery draw.

When asked how he plans to enjoy life as a newly minted multimillionaire, the occasional Powerball player admitted he would continue to work but was looking forward to buying a brand new home.

‘I keep working. But I still need to process this. Maybe I won’t do that again in the future!’ he said.

But his wife had other ideas.

‘To work?! We’re multimillionaires now!” she scoffed.

“We’re going to buy a new house and prepare for the future.”

Only one other Australian lottery player has won more: a nurse from Sydney who scored more than $107 million in January 2019.

The mammoth $100 million prize was smashed after five consecutive draws failed to yield a single Division 1 winner.

There were ten division two winners on Thursday, who shared a prize of more than $2 million.

Nearly 70 people won just over $12,500, sharing the $2.7 million division three prize pool.
