Powerball winner comes forward to claim $20million Lotto prize

An Australian father has come forward to claim a $20 million Powerball prize and revealed what he plans to do with the money.

The man from Melbourne was the only winning Division I player nationally in Powerball last Thursday. The total division one prize was $20,809,257.29.

“I only buy a Powerball ticket every now and then. This comes at a great time for me and my family: it’s a great blessing,” he said.

‘It’s such a big prize. It means I can pay off the mortgage and help my family.

‘My wife and children have always said that we never go on holiday, and I would like to take them to Europe.’

The man’s winning entry was purchased from The Lucky Charm Craigieburn in Melbourne’s north.

Lucky Charm owner Nicole Knothe said the $20 million win was the largest Division 1 prize sold in her store.

“This is such an exciting and life-changing win for one of our lucky customers,” Ms Knothe said.

‘We’d like to send all our happy thoughts to our lucky winner!

The winning numbers in Powerball drawing 1494 were 21, 27, 9, 22, 15, 18 and 8, while the all-important Powerball number was 19.
