Powerball results as jackpot surges to $100m for the first time this year

This year’s biggest Powerball Division One prize worth $100 million is soon up for grabs.

No first division winner of Thursday’s Powerball draw has increased next Thursday’s jackpot to the biggest reward of the year so far.

Drawing 1414 on Thursday 22 June marks the first time in 2023 that the jackpot has risen to such an amount and will be the largest prize offered by an Australian lottery game so far this year.

Lott spokesman James Eddy urged eager participants to buy their tickets in advance.

“As this is the biggest lottery jackpot we’ve seen in Australia since December 2022, we expect it to be busy in-store and online ahead of next Thursday’s draw,” he said.

“We’re sure most Powerball players are already dreaming about what they’d do if they won a share of this massive jackpot next week,” Mr Eddy said.

“The vacation of a lifetime, immediate retirement, your perfect home and all your other dreams can come true.”

Last week’s drawing yielded four division two winners who each took home $280,009.50, bringing the total prize pool won by the division two winners to nine on Thursday to approximately $40.2 million.

This week’s winning Powerball numbers were 20, 11, 13, 9, 2, 25, and 31, and the Powerball number was 2.

The lottery expects about half of the adult Australian population to buy a lottery ticket.

In times of increasing economic hardship, it’s easy to imagine why.

Registration for next week’s $100 million closes Thursday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Tricks to Help You Win the Lotto

Use system bets

A system bet allows gamblers to choose even more numbers than the standard amount in multiple combinations.

This dramatically increases the chances of a win, but it will cost bettors a bit more as more games are purchased.

System bets are popular with lotto syndicates that split the costs between the players.

Be consistent

To win the lottery, a player must defy the odds stacked against him, meaning the numbers he chooses don’t really matter.

According to the laws of probability, all numbers have the same chance of being drawn – however, there are ways to reduce the seemingly impossible odds.

Lottoland states that this probability decreases as more draws are played.

If a gambler plays every week, the overall lottery odds don’t change, but the odds of the player beating them do.

Choose the most suitable lottery for you

It is a good idea to choose the jackpot that best suits a gambler’s desired results.

Some players will try their best to win more money at higher odds, while others will go for lower jackpots with a higher chance of success.

Lottoland suggests joining a lottery syndicate to even out costs and play in other prize divisions that often pay out “juicy” amounts.

Two thirds of the people who hit the jackpot in 2021 bought their tickets from a recognized lottery and 10 were QuickPick winners.

Avoid system numbers

An example of using system numbers is choosing numbers that form a pattern on the ticket, from straight lines to complex patterns.

Lottoland says that this method of choosing numbers does not increase the chances of winning, as the results of the draw are always random.

Think about your lucky numbers

Lottoland analysis has revealed that of all 49 numbers chosen by hopeful bettors, the favorite was 33, while the least common was 13.

While there’s no way to scientifically prove that numbers are “lucky” and “unlucky,” it can be helpful to know which numbers are drawn most often.

For those who want to pick their own numbers, The Lott found that 17, 7, 9, 2, and 28 were the most frequently drawn from the main loop, and 3 and 19 were the most commonly drawn Powerball numbers.
