Powerball numbers: $150million jackpot draw results

A lucky Australian is $150 million richer after winning a record-breaking Powerball jackpot.

The winning numbers were: 18, 29, 34, 8, 4, 28, 6 and the Powerball was 11.

The winner, from South Australia, got all the numbers right and took home the huge prize.

They become the country’s biggest ever Lotto winner, beating a Sydney nurse who won $107 million in 2019.

Thursday night’s PPowerball Draw 1462 has risen to $150 million after no Division 1 winner in the past six draws

Powerball Draw 1462 rose to $150 million after no division one winner in the past six draws.

Australia’s biggest lottery prize of $200 million saw the jackpot split between two people in February this year after 9.6 million tickets were sold.

While the game ultimately comes down to the numbers you choose, The Lott has revealed that past winners share major statistical similarities, such as their initials, state of residence and even zodiac signs.

According to The Lott, Powerball Division 1 winners in 2023 had M, J, S, D or G as the initial for their first name almost half of the time, at 46.58 percent.

‘The [initials] M and J accounted for over 10 percent of wins in Division 1, followed by S (9.86 percent), D (8.49 percent) G (7.67 percent),” The Lott noted in a statement.

The survey also found that there was no success for the ‘Ursulas, Xaviers or Zachs’ of the world, as there were no winners in 2023 with the initials U, X or Z – the least common first name initials.

Men were also overly represented in The Lott’s winners column, taking home 61.9 percent of division one wins last year.

This is despite the fact that it makes up 49.3 percent of the population, according to the 2021 census.

Meanwhile, people under 60 made up more than half of all winners.

When it comes to zodiac signs, Libras – born between September 23 and October 22 – were the luckiest lottery participants in 2023, making an increase of 12.97 percent among Division 1 winners.

They were closely followed by Virgos with 11.72 percent, Cancers with 10.04 percent and Geminis with 9.21 percent.

The average distribution of winners per zodiac sign is 8.33 percent.

Perhaps the most frustrating statistic is that since the start of the current Powerball run in mid-April, a total of 29 people have missed out on the Division 1 prize by having all the other numbers except the Powerball.

If they do, they’ll find themselves in division two, which still offers a payday but falls painfully short of the top prize’s life-changing millions.

The second division winners over the past six weeks have collectively collected more than $4.35 million in prize money, an average of $150,000 per person.

Ten of these division two winners were from New South Wales, eight from Victoria, five in Western Australia and three each in Queensland and South Australia.

A Lott spokesperson revealed that all division two winners would have jumped to division one if they had chosen the Powerball number.

“We’re often asked for our biggest tip when it comes to Powerball, and when it comes to securing that all-important Powerball number, it’s hard to go past the PowerHit,” the spokesperson said.

“A PowerHit is an entry type unique to Powerball that guarantees the all-important Powerball number you need to win Division One.”
