A record-breaking Powerball jackpot grew to an even bigger $1.9 billion after nobody won Saturday night’s lottery draw
The top prize now stands at $1.9 billion with a $929.1 million cash option for the next draw on Monday
The new $1.9 billion jackpot is for a winner paid out over 29 years through an annuity. Lottery jackpot winners usually prefer a lump sum, which would be $929.1 million for Monday’s drawing, according to the California lottery site.
The Powerball prize is getting bigger and bigger due to someone’s inability to overcome the long 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning the jackpot. To win the top prize, players must match all five white balls and one red Powerball.
Since someone won the prize on August 3rd, there have been 40 draws with no winner.
Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
