Powerball $100million jackpot: Here are the statistically luckiest – and unluckiest numbers – to pick in tonight’s big draw

The most frequently drawn lottery numbers have been announced ahead of Thursday night’s $100 million Powerball jackpot.

Lotterywest has confirmed that ticket holders with numbers 17, 7, 11, 2, 3 and 9 have a good chance of taking home the life-changing winnings.

However, those with the numbers 33, 15, 34, 31, 26 and 1 may not be so lucky; as data suggests these are drawn the least frequently.

If tonight’s winner is a resident of Western Australia, it will break records in the state.

HAPPIEST FIGURES

17, 7, 11, 2, 3 and 9 are some of the most common numbers drawn in Australian lotteries.

UNFORTUNATE FIGURES

33, 15, 34, 31, 26 and 1 are the least drawn numbers

“We hope that following tonight’s $100 million Powerball draw, a WA Division One winner will have set a new Lotto prize record for the state,” Lotterywest acting CEO Jeremy Hubble told reporters. PerthNow.

“Currently, WA’s biggest Lotto prize coincides with the 2021 Powerball draw, which saw a group of 55 gym ladies share an $80 million prize.

“This $100 million Powerball draw is also a great opportunity for players to join a syndicate, with some of WA’s biggest wins over the past year coming from syndicates, making the prize a little more special.”

Thursday night’s huge jackpot is the fifth-largest Australian lottery prize in history, after no one has won the first division in the past four weeks.

If an individual is lucky enough to win the draw, he or she will be the second largest prize recipient in Australian Powerball history.

To get punters excited, The Lott released details of last year’s Division 1 winners on Wednesday.

More than half of Powerball’s winning entries in the first division were QuickPicks – that’s when the machine selects randomly generated numbers for you in the store or when you buy online.

These winning entries were also selected as ‘PowerHit’, meaning the player will automatically draw the Powerball number needed to win the Division 1 prize.

NSW was the luckiest state, with eight division one winners in 2023.

The most popular suburb for division one winners was postcode 4211 (Nerang and Pacific Pines in Queensland), which had three division one entries.

In 2023, twenty winning Powerball Division 1 entries across Australia took home more than $552.15 million in prize money.

Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said half of all Australian adults are expected to buy a ticket for the $100 million jackpot.

“This is the largest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game in more than six months, and we expect a busy period, both in-store and online, leading up to the final minutes before the draw closes,” she added.

“We haven’t seen a $100 million Powerball drawing since August 2023. On that occasion, the jackpot was shared between a ten-member syndicate from Sydney and a mother from Melbourne, who each scored $50 million.”

Tickets are available in store, online and via the official Powerball app until 6 p.m.
