Powerball $100million jackpot numbers revealed

  • Third largest Lotto prize in Australia this year

Millions of Aussies are trying to find their tickets in the hope that Christmas has arrived early in the form of a life-changing windfall after the figures for Thursday night’s $100 million Powerball jackpot were revealed.

The monster jackpot was the third largest Lotto prize in Australia this year, and the sixth largest in Australian lottery history.

The winning numbers for Powerball draw 1489 were 22, 10, 4, 31, 1, 26 and 9 while the Powerball was 14.

One in two Australian adults were expected to buy a ticket for Thursday night’s draw. Registration closed one hour before the draw.

The jackpot grew to $100 million after there were no division one winners for the past four weeks.

The odds of picking the seven numbers plus the Powerball may be 134 million to 1, but that hasn’t stopped millions of Aussies from putting their money on the line.

Thursday night’s Powerball jackpot was the sixth largest in the history of Australian lotteries

“This $100 million Powerball jackpot is the largest prize offered by any Australian lottery game in more than three months and we expect a huge rush across the country,” Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell previously said.

Over the past decade, Aussies have pocketed $4.78 billion in Powerball Division 1 prize money across 176 wins.

NSW and Victoria lead Queensland in division one wins during that period.

But the biggest individual lottery winner is a South Australian man who received a whopping $150 million in May.

A Brisbane woman became the latest person to win the lottery jackpot, taking home a cheeky $100 million in August.

In FY24, 19 winning Powerball Division 1 entries across Australia took home more than $758 million in prize money.

Of the 19 winning entries from division one, eight landed in NSW, six in Victoria, three in Queensland and one each in South Australia and Western Australia.

A Sydney nurse who won a $107 million Powerball jackpot in 2019 previously shared advice for Australia’s next multi-millionaire.

“If it’s possible and you can tolerate it, wake up the next morning and go to work. It gives you normalcy and lets the news sink in slowly,” she said.

‘It takes two weeks for the prize money to arrive. I used those two weeks to hire a financial advisor who I really trusted.’

She added that winners should be careful who they tell.

“Only a handful of people know,” she said of her win.

‘Before sharing the news with your family and friends, take a moment to think about who you might tell, and let the story emerge from the headlines first.

‘I have a small group of very loyal friends and you just don’t know how people will react, but I haven’t had any negative reactions.

The next Powerball drawing will take place on December 5.
