Cristiano Ronaldo put his World Cup nightmare behind him with a brace in his first appearance for Portugal as they overcame Liechtenstein in their first Euro 2024 qualifier with a 4-0 win.
The former Manchester United star, who thought he had touched the opener before he handed it to Joao Cancelo, netted the third from the penalty spot after Bernardo Silva fired in the second, before firing a signature free-kick to make this a routine opening win in qualifying.
New boss Roberto Martinez started Ronaldo from the ground up after being benched by former manager Fernando Santos, and he did not disappoint his boss when he delivered the goods to get Portugal on track.
