- Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa has spoken out against a move to Man United
- Costa has been linked with a summer switch to join the Premier League giant
- But labeled speculation about a possible deal to join United as ‘nothing concrete’
Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa has cooled rumors he is being linked with a summer move to Manchester United, insisting he ‘hopes to continue’ in Portugal.
Erik ten Hag’s side are rumored to be leading the race for the 23-year-old’s signature, but Costa has calmed speculation about his future.
United are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper after David de Gea’s struggles this season were highlighted by another disappointing performance in Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
Costa could be seen by transfer gurus at Old Trafford as De Gea’s long-term successor after an impressive season at Porto, but the shot-stopper is unaffected by ongoing speculation.
Speaking to reporters, Costa downplayed a possible move from Porto, saying: “That’s the internet. It’s a happiness and an honor to play for my favorite club.

“What they say is what they say, there is nothing concrete. I have a contract until 2027 and I hope to continue, let’s see.’
United are reportedly ready to pay the £65 million release clause that will see them lure Costa to England while identifying possible options before the transfer window opens.
Costa has enjoyed a stellar campaign with the Portuguese giants, keeping 16 clean sheets in the Liga Portugal and making 41 appearances in all competitions.
His impressive saves also helped Porto to victories over Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge and Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
A product of Porto’s academy, Costa has made 109 senior appearances for the club. He won the Portuguese national title twice, the Taca de Portugal twice and the Taca da Liga once.
Costa has been capped twelve times by the Portuguese national team.

Meanwhile, De Gea’s position with the Red Devils remains uncertain as negotiations continue on a new deal that would see his wages cut if he wants to stay at the club.
Ten Hag fueled discussion of a new number one coming to the club during the off-season after refusing to guarantee De Gea a starting role for next season.
The Dutchman explained: “I won’t say he will always be my number 1 because at a club like Manchester United there has to be competition in all positions.”
You can’t do it with 11 players. It’s impossible. You need double positions.’
