Portland doctor knocked out by ‘homeless’ assailant reveals bloody wounds on her face and blames city for slow police response – claiming she changed her vote from Democrat to Republican

A Portland doctor who was knocked out by a “homeless” attacker has revealed the injuries to her face, blaming the city for the police’s slow response.

Radiologist Mary Costantino was attacked shortly after 10:30 p.m. last Friday night in Oregon city while walking with a friend.

Shocking surveillance footage of the incident shows a man throwing a large silver bottle directly at the 50-year-old, knocking her unconscious.

Speak against Fox News digitalCostantino said she woke up on the floor sure she was about to be killed and immediately called 911.

Costantino has now also swung at the city for its poor response time to the situation.

Costantino suffered a black eye and a cracked nose and said she thought she would die after the incident

After being hit with the metal bottle, she was knocked unconscious and attempted to call the police to “release a report” on how she died

Speaking to Fox, she said, “I thought we were still being attacked in some way.

“I was like, I’m just going to try and do a report of what happens, so there’s a record of how I died.”

As she became more coherent, she realized that she was not dying and had in fact been punched in the face by an aluminum water bottle.

Surveillance footage shows the moment the unprovoked attack occurred, with police now seeking help in apprehending the suspect.

You can see Costantino walking with her friend on the far right of the photo, while other people walk the sidewalk.

Seconds later, a man viciously throws the bottle at Costantino, who is immediately knocked out and falls to the floor.

The man then proceeds towards the couple, with Costantino now on the floor, while her boyfriend manages to hold the man off.

Police have described the man as a white man in his 20s or 30s, who was last seen wearing a dark flannel jacket with a dark hood, black pants and a backpack.

Portland police are now actively searching for the man after the brutal attack last Friday

Officers said they were dispatched at 10:55 p.m., some twenty minutes after the attack—by which time Costantino had given up and gone home.

She also told the outlet: “I don’t hold the police responsible for this at all – I hold our city responsible for defunding the police

“We don’t have enough police power to protect our citizens, and we did that to ourselves.

“If we don’t have police officers to help someone who is being attacked, we’re on our own.”

Costantino said the deterioration of public safety in Portland has now caused her to change her voting affiliation from Democratic to Republican.

This recent incident comes on the heels of a series of troubling incidents for the city struggling with homelessness and open-air drug problems.

Camps made by the homeless are scattered on the sidewalk in Portland, Oregon

In May, local authorities in Oregon considered calling in the National Guard to help with the city’s homeless problem.

A count by the Health and Human Services and Public Safety Committee in April found that there are an estimated 5,000 homeless people in the city.
