Port Macquarie shark attack: Man fights for his life after being bitten off Lighthouse Beach, NSW

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being bitten on the leg by a shark.
NSW Ambulance was called to Lighthouse Beach in Port Macquarie at 10am after reports of a shark attack.
A man, 44, had suffered serious injuries to his lower and upper leg.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital.

He is still in critical condition.
Lighthouse Beach is temporarily closed due to the incident.
Lighthouse Beach is closed due to a shark incident. The closure is likely to remain in place for at least 24 hours,” Port Macquarie Hastings ALS Lifeguards said in a post on Facebook.
“A Surf Life Saving NSW drone will be deployed to determine the size and species of the shark involved.”
“We hope and pray for a good outcome for the victim involved.”
