Long-time ABC newsreader Karina Carvalho has announced her move to Channel Seven News.
The reporter, who left her role at ABC last year, will take up a new role as presenter at 7News Melbourne from Monday, it was reported The Herald Sun.
Karina joins the network during an important transition period under new national news chief Anthony De Ceglie.
De Ceglie has made a number of notable changes, including downsizing the network’s news departments and introducing a comedy section to the Friday night bulletin and a daily horoscope report.
Despite the move, the roles of current 7News presenters Peter Mitchell, Rebecca Maddern and Mike Amor remain unchanged.
Karina announced in December last year that she had quit her job as a presenter at ABC News after 17 years with the network.
At the time, she expressed her bitter feelings about leaving the ABC.
“The ABC will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve had the privilege of meeting and working with so many talented people,” she told The Australian ahead of her final bulletin.
