A popular Fox host has revealed the heartbreaking reason why she is no longer on the air.
Fox 2 Detroit morning host Amy Andrews revealed on Sunday that she has been suffering from severe depression and anxiety in recent months.
“My severe depression and anxiety have returned in full force,” she wrote. “I’ve temporarily stepped away from the anchor desk to fight with everything I have so I can come back and spend my mornings with you. Love always…”
Andrews had previously announced on May 18 that she would be taking “a few weeks off from anchoring… to address some health issues,” according to Deadline Detroit.

The newsreader has been committed to raising awareness about mental health for years and openly talks about her own experiences with viewers.
In June 2022, Andrews announced that she was returning to work after months of battling severe depression and anxiety, and thanked those who had supported her.
“Eventually I had to take a step back and address it so I could move on,” she said posted on X.
“We never know what others are going through, so always try to be kind and don’t be ashamed to admit you might need a little help,” Andrews wrote, thanking the local Fox station for taking the time off.

In June 2022, Andrews announced that she was returning to work after months of struggling with severe depression and anxiety, thanking those who had supported her.
In 2019, Andrews also participated in a charity walk along the river in Detroit to raise awareness for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and spoke to the audience about her friend and colleague Jessica Starr, who had committed suicide the year before.
In 2018 she also posted on Instagram: ‘You can have a #RealConvo with me today and every other day if you’re feeling down or have questions about #suicide or mental health.
“I care about you,” she wrote.
Just a few weeks ago, on July 19, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Michigan Chapter praised Andrews for “her years of support of our organization and using her platform to elevate our cause and bring hope to as many people as possible.”
“Thank you, Amy, for being such a fierce advocate for your mental health.”
Andrews returns to Fox 2 Detroit on Friday.
