A popular Channel 4 reality show has been renewed for a ninth series before its eighth airs – after promising ‘longest season yet’.

Filming for the next season of Married At First Sight UK has not yet been completed, but following the success of the show, a decision has already been made about its future.

According to The sunproducers have decided to ‘strike while the iron is hot’ because the ‘public appetite is not great’.

The massive dating show is believed to return later this year, with Channel 4 already putting out a casting call for the series.

A source told the publication, “MAFS UK is a huge priority for the channel and is the biggest franchise on E4, as well as the biggest streaming hit for the network.”

They added, “It makes sense to order and strike another series now while the iron is hot, as public interest in all the drama and chaos that comes from these ‘blind’ marriages is not great.”

MailOnline has contacted Channel 4 for comment.

It comes after, Subway revealed that the upcoming eighth season could be the “longest series yet,” running for about eight weeks.

MAFSUK promises an extra week of drama and may run as long as Love Island, whose eighth season had 57 episodes.

In 2021, Married At First Sight UK has revamped its format to match the scandalous Australian series.

Aussie relationship expert Mel Schilling also stepped in to helm the series following the blockbuster success of Australia’s MAFS in the UK.

The program sees sixteen bachelors matched for life with their partners by love gurus Melanie Schilling, Charlene Douglas and Paul C. Brunson, who meet for the first time at the altar.

After their risky marriage, they embark on a joint honeymoon where drama reaches boiling point and screaming matches ensue.

Inspired by the show’s Australian format, the couples are brought together for group dinners, which also seem to be full of drama.

Instead of legal marriages, the couples will form a lifelong bond with each other in a glamorous ceremony, overseen by a wedding celebrant, with guests, wedding gowns, dance, speeches and cake.

After the ceremony and celebrations are over, true love is put to the test as they embark on a lavish honeymoon before moving in with each other and their fellow couples.

Relationships are scrutinized, by fellow brides and grooms at weekly dinner parties — and by the experts at recurring commitment ceremonies, where couples choose whether to stay in the process or leave the process.
