Popular Channel 4 gameshow is ‘AXED’

Channel 4’s popular game show is ‘AXED’ after just two series despite high ratings and star presenter

A Channel 4 game show was reportedly axed after just two series despite high ratings and a popular TV presenter hosting the show.

According to a new report, Moneybags will be taken off the air after it was not renewed for another series with the broadcaster.

It may come as a surprise to fans after the show, hosted by former Coronation Street star Craig Charles, turned out to be a hit with viewers.

An informant said Sun: ‘Moneybags has a really big and loyal fan base and having Craig on board made it perfect.

“Unfortunately, Covid has once again played its part causing the production behind it to go bust.”

Oh no! A Channel 4 game show was reportedly axed after just two series despite high ratings from viewers and a popular TV presenter hosting the show.

Moneybags was commissioned by Channel 4 in 2021 and was later renewed for another series that ran for 30 episodes the following year.

Its original timeslot was 3:00 p.m., before it was later changed to a post-5:00 p.m.

Sadly, however, the show is no more, after the producers Youngest Media were forced to close down and go into liquidation.

The show’s format saw 10 new contestants enter the competition, with £1 million divided between 100 bags of money.

The fee on each bag ranged from £1,000 to £100,000.

For each game, 20 bags out of 100 are chosen and once the contestants choose a particular bag, it is out of the game for the rest of the week.

The Money Belt, a conveyor belt, transports the bags of money past the gate at one end before falling down a chute at the other.

During the game, contestants complete a series of rounds to win bags.

What a shame! According to a new report, Moneybags will be taken off the air after it was not renewed for another series with the broadcaster.

Speaking about hosting the show, Craig previously told The Herald: “I also liked the sense of camaraderie and camaraderie that the show generates, because you’re with them for a few days, you know…

“It’s a slower process, you get to know the people, how much they mean to them, you find out a bit about the personalities involved.

I’m not faking emotion. It’s really exciting, it’s what’s on the edge of your pants. There’s a million pounds a week coming down that conveyor belt, and it can be life-changing sums.
