Poll: Trump WOULD BEAT Biden in head-to-head elections

Donald Trump would beat President Joe Biden by 3 points in a hypothetical head-to-head election, a new poll reveals, as most Americans say they don’t want a 2020 rematch.

Forty-eight percent of registered voters said in an ABC News/Washington Post poll released Sunday that they would vote for Trump, and 45 percent said they would vote for Biden.

While this falls within the four-point margin of error, it is a change from September, when Biden was leading Trump by two points.

Independent voters, arguably the largest voting bloc in recent national elections, favor Trump by nine percentage points in a 50% to 41% split.

Most Americans do not expect a rematch between Trump and Biden in 2024 and instead want other candidates as their respective nominees.

If Biden were to run for a second term in 2024, 30 percent of Americans said they would be “mad,” while another 32 percent said they would be “dissatisfied but not mad.”

Just 7 percent of those surveyed said they would be “thrilled” if Biden won re-election and 29 percent said that while they would be “thrilled” they would not be thrilled.

The prospects were not much better for another Trump presidency.

Thirty-six percent of the 1,003 people surveyed said they would be “angry” if he won four more years, while 20 percent said they would be “dissatisfied.”

Meanwhile, the former president fared better on the positive side of the spectrum than Biden with 17 percent saying they would be excited about another Trump White House and 26 percent saying they would be pleased.

Trump was dissatisfied with the latest poll, responding angrily on his Truth Social social media website Sunday morning using his insulting nicknames for two outlets that conducted the poll: “ABC fake news” and “Washington compost.”

“To all my many supporters, and the number is higher than ever, I am happy to report that ‘our’ poll numbers are excellent,” Trump insisted in his post.

‘Polls are important, but many have been shown to be corrupt, wrong or incompetent in the past,’ he added, ‘especially the ABC FAKE NEWS/WASHINGTON COMPOST polls; FAKE NEWS FROM THE FOX; and NBC FAKE NEWS/GLOBALIST STREET JOURNAL, which have become meaningless, just a political weapon. CNN polls don’t matter anymore because so few people are watching CNN (and MSDNC)!’

The poll found that among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independent voters, 58 percent would want a candidate other than Biden as their nominee in the 2024 presidential election. On the other hand, 31 percent said they support Biden.

When it comes to Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, 49 percent said they would prefer a different candidate than Trump to be their nominee versus 44 percent who want another Trump run for the White House.

On both the Democratic and Republican sides, support for the respective presidents is virtually unchanged from the same poll conducted in September.

While it’s unclear whether any Democrats will be bold enough to take on Biden should he announce a re-election bid, which hasn’t officially happened yet, there are a number of Republicans who are showing interest in running a bid against Trump.

So far, Trump is the only major Republican to have announced his 2024 candidacy. But his former ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, will announce her candidacy later this month.

Others are also making visits to early primary competition states like New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina, signaling more imminent deals to come.

This includes the likes of former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, among others.

Many Republicans want to see the very popular Florida Governor Ron DeSantis run for the White House. Trump made him public enemy number 1 by launching a series of lines of attack against DeSantis in recent weeks as he officially launched the 2024 election campaign.
