A Chinese woman escaped after allegedly being kidnapped on a night out and locked in a dog cage in the Philippines for 20 days.

Batangas City police rescued the woman after she escaped her captors who had held her for nearly three weeks at a home in Barangay Alangilan, Batangas City, on Oct. 6.

The victim – a resident of Shanghai whose name has been withheld for safety – was found by officers at a supermarket in the village, who then took her to the police station.

The woman’s boyfriend had filed a complaint after he received a video from an unknown number on his phone that allegedly showed his girlfriend being beaten by a baseball bat.

The victim – a Shanghai resident whose name has been kept secret for security – was found by officers at a supermarket in the village, who then took her to the police station.

He said the suspects later called him and demanded a $200,000 ransom for her freedom.

Law enforcement officers raided the house she fled from, but the suspects had already escaped.

They also discovered the cramped cage — with some pillows and a red bucket inside — where the woman was being held hostage.

She was reportedly abducted on Sept. 17 while out with a friend at a club in the red light district of Angeles City, Pampanga Province — some 120 miles from where she was rescued.

The police anti-kidnapping unit confirmed that a kidnapping had been reported in the same city on the same date.

The friend claimed the woman had been taken off on a white Toyota Fortuner with two Chinese citizens and a Filipino at the wheel.

It is unclear how the victim managed to free herself from the cage and escape her captors.

Brigadier General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr, head of the 4A Regional Police Station, said in a statement: “I commend the officers of the Batangas City Police Station for rescuing the victim.

“Your timely response has thwarted yet another kidnapping incident involving Chinese citizens.

“Such atrocities should not occur in our region. We must strengthen our intelligence efforts and maintain the presence of the police on the streets as a deterrent against possible kidnappings and other crimes.

“I want immediate progress on this case and also, I want these kidnappers arrested. We cannot tolerate these criminals who have victimized innocent civilians for their own gain.’
