Police have released dramatic dash cam footage of a high-speed chase involving a 10-year-old boy who stole his mother’s car to visit her in Detroit.

The 31-second clip shows the silver 2017 Buick Encore — driven by the child — meandering from lane to lane at 1:40 p.m. May 27 with its blinkers on.

Hazard lights flashed as the 10-year-old steered the vehicle southbound from his home in Buena Vista Township on Interstate 75 while ignoring police chasing him.

It didn’t take long for the SUV to pull to the side of the road before hitting the guardrail and coming to a stop.

Michigan State Police troopers were told the stolen SUV was speeding down I-75 and they began following it. Buena Vista Township is about a 90 minute drive from Detroit.

While they were responding, they received multiple 911 calls about a child driving recklessly on the same road.

M.S.P. Lt. Kimberly Vetter said the child driver ignored the police car sirens and kept going.

OnStar, which was set up in the SUV, was turned off remotely and the car then came to a stop, where the video ended.

The child, who was staying with relatives, told police he took his mother’s car so he could visit her in Detroit.

Police said the car was stolen from a residence on Hess Avenue in Buena Vista Township.
