Police operation underway in Weir Views in Melbourne’s west, residents urged to stay inside

Police have advised residents to stay indoors while officers negotiate with an armed man at a property in Melbourne’s northwest.

Witnesses said at least eight police vehicles drove to the Weir Views residential area around 4pm on Tuesday.

Police say the man shot at police before entering a home on Leon Drive.

No one was injured.

“The area has been cordoned off while the incident is ongoing,” a statement from Victoria Police said.

‘Due to operational reasons we will not be able to provide a running commentary and will provide further information as it becomes available.

‘We will provide further information as it becomes available.’

Residents in the Leon Drive area have been ordered by police to stay indoors until further notice.
