Police have launched an investigation after a violent brawl involving Chelsea and Middlesbrough fans shocked the streets of London on Tuesday evening.
Chelsea, who went into the second leg of the Carabao Cup with Middlesbrough a goal behind, went into the final with a 6-1 win at Stamford Bridge that evening.
Jonny Howson’s own goal set the tone for the hosts, who jumped to a 4-0 lead at half-time thanks to goals from Enzo Fernandez, Axel Disasi and Cole Palmer.
The England international created a lead in the 77th minute before substitute Noni Madueke capped an excellent night for Chelsea, scoring four minutes later. Morgan Rogers’ strike in the 88th minute for the visitors was only a consolation.
Shortly after the Blues’ victory over the Championship club, a group of supporters were filmed engaging in violent clashes in London.

Despite the chaotic shouts and violent blows, there appeared to be little police intervention during the video clip, which was posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday.
The few stewards present seemed slow to intervene, but the problems were quickly resolved as fans took it upon themselves to force the travelers back.
The footage appeared to show some Chelsea fans taunting visiting Middlesbrough supporters after it appeared some attendees were looking for a fight.
Several arguments broke out between fans, before a group of men and women, decked out in Chelsea colours, entered the fray to break up an attack on one of their fellow supporters.
