In Majorca, police have arrested two British men, both 36 years old, who are accused of “raping and hospitalising another holidaymaker they met on Grindr”.

Police in Mallorca have arrested two British men accused of raping a third they met on the popular gay dating app Grindr.
The alleged victim ended up in the hospital needing stitches for lacerations she sustained during the alleged sexual assault.
The incident, which led to the arrest of two men, both 36, took place at an unnamed hotel in the east coast tourist resort of Calais de Mallorca.
The man, who arranged to meet the two suspects, is said to have told them in previous messages and conversations after they connected that he was only interested in “kisses and cuddling” because he had never had full-on sex, according to reports.
The alleged rape took place last Friday after she accepted an invitation to two other men’s room after they had enjoyed drinks around the pool.
Police in Mallorca have arrested two British men accused of raping a third they met on the popular gay dating app Grindr.
The island’s authoritative Ultima Hora newspaper said she fled the room after being “sexually assaulted” and, realizing she was injured, went to a hospital in the nearby town of Manakor, where doctors diagnosed a “large laceration” and stitched her up.
The suspects, who have not been named, are said to have been released on bail pending an ongoing criminal investigation after appearing before a judge on Saturday.
The hearing took place behind closed doors, as is customary in Spain, where only trials are held in public.
The alleged victim is believed to have shown investigators messages she exchanged with two other Britons on Grindr in which she made clear what her boundaries were.
“The National Police have arrested two British men in Manacor as the perpetrators of the alleged crime of sexual assault in a hotel in Majorca,” said a National Police spokesman.
“The victim began chatting on a dating app with two men who invited her to their room and offered her a threesome.
“The complainant agreed to go to the room, but made it clear that he did not want sex, just friendship and a display of affection.
“Once the three men were in the room, the evening began as the alleged victim had planned, but then things turned sexual,” the spokesperson added.
“Despite distancing herself, she was allegedly sexually assaulted, injured and had to go to the hospital.
“Due to the situation, the protocol for this type of crime was activated, which initiated an investigation that ended with the arrest of two men as the alleged perpetrators of the crime of sexual assault,” the statement said.
Friday’s arrests follow a string of other rape arrests in Majorca involving British holidaymakers over the summer.
The most famous saw five French and one Swiss tourists arrested at the BH Mallorca Resort in Magaluf on August 14 for allegedly gang-raping an 18-year-old British man. All five were remanded in custody by the investigating judge, who is leading the ongoing investigation.
The alleged rape took place last Friday after the victim accepted an invitation to the other two men’s room after they had enjoyed drinks around the pool.
Two other suspects were later arrested in France on European arrest warrants so they could be extradited to Spain.
Less than a fortnight later, three British holidaymakers were arrested on suspicion of raping a woman at another Magaluf hotel.
The trio were detained as they tried to board a plane to Manchester.
The woman who raised the alarm, who well-placed sources said at the time was also British, claimed she had been drugged.
