Police in Fort Worth say four children are among six people wounded in a drive-by shooting

Police in Fort Worth, Texas, say four children are among six injured in a drive-by shooting at an apartment complex that Police Chief Neil Noakes called stupid

FORT WORTH, Texas — Police say four children are among the six people injured in a drive-by shooting at an apartment complex in Fort Worth, Texas.

The six were shot Wednesday about 7:30 p.m. and five were taken to a hospital, while one refused treatment, said Officer Brad Perez of the Fort Worth Police Department.

Their circumstances were not released and Perez said in an email Thursday morning that police were still ā€œgathering informationā€ about the shooting.

No arrests have been announced, but the shooting was called ā€œstupidā€ by police chief Neil Noakes, who said he was sickened by the violence.

ā€œIt makes me angry, I’m angry,ā€ Noakes said. ā€œThere is absolutely no reason why anyone would behave so violently, carelessly and callously that children would be shot.ā€

Noakes said the shooting appeared isolated and there was no danger to the public.

Perez said the injured range in age from 3 to 19 and were shot by someone in a vehicle that drove past them while they were outside the apartments.

Perez said police had not determined the exact ages of all the injured.
