  • The neighbor was charged with alleged harassment

Police have dropped charges against Guy Sebastian’s neighbor in a sensational final chapter to the bitter battle over a shared fence.

Phillip Richard Hanslow had been accused of escalating a long-running feud between the neighbors by allegedly intimidating Mr. Sebastian outside their Maroubra homes on January 23.

Police were called to the waterfront suburb around 1:30pm after the 66-year-old allegedly threatened to kill his famous neighbour.

On Wednesday, Mr Hanslow’s solicitor, Bryan Wrench, told Waverley Court that the charges had been dropped.

“The charges will now be dropped and dismissed,” he said.

“As your honor can appreciate, the whole thing has been quite stressful for Mr. Hanslow.”

Mr Hanslow told reporters he was in the toilet when police raided his home and charged him with stalking with intent to cause bodily harm and damage to property.

Police asked for a preliminary warrant of violence to protect Mr Sebastian, which prohibits his neighbor from contacting the pop star or entering his property.

The court heard that the AVO will continue for another four months as a final decision by consent.

It will expire in August with no confessions to the crimes.

The alleged death threats are said to be the fiery conclusion to six years of tension between neighbors, which arose while Mr Sebastian and his wife Jules were building their home.

The couple purchased their $3.1 million home in Maroubra in 2013 and spent nearly three years overhauling it to create their “fortress-like” home.

Mr Hanslow claimed the extensive building work was causing ‘an enormous amount of friction’ in the neighbourhood.

He said their fight stemmed from $2 worth of damage to his shared fence with Mr. Sebastian, which has since been repaired.
