Investigators are looking for links between the death of a little girl found on the shoulder of a busy Los Angeles freeway, a man found murdered in a suburban apartment complex, and a woman killed in a solo car crash near a beach.
LOS ANGELES — Authorities were investigating possible links between the death of a little girl found Monday on the shoulder of a busy Los Angeles freeway, a man found murdered in a suburban apartment complex and a woman killed in a solo car crash. accident near a beach.
The chain of events began when officers encountered the child and a 9-year-old girl around 4:30 a.m. on the side of Interstate 405 in Culver City, east of downtown Los Angeles. The child, believed to be about 6 months old, suffered unspecified trauma and died at the scene, California Highway Patrol Officer Frank Salas said. The older girl was hospitalized with minor injuries, he said.
A 911 caller told authorities that a black sedan had been seen in the area where the girls were found, Salas said, although it was not clear whether the children came from that car.
Then, shortly after 7:30 a.m., Los Angeles police responded to an apartment in the Woodland Hills neighborhood on a report of an unconscious man in his 30s. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Authorities later said they were investigating the solo crash of a black sedan around 5 a.m. in Redondo Beach, south of Los Angeles, that killed the woman behind the wheel.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Monday afternoon that its detectives were “working with the California Highway Patrol on the incident involving the two children and believe it is related to the homicide scene” at the apartment complex.
They also worked with Redondo Beach police to determine if the car crash was related to these two deaths, LA police said on the social platform
Anyone with information was urged to call highway patrol or the Los Angeles Police Department.
