Everyone is making the same joke as Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis storms to gold in 2024 Olympics pole vault

Several social media users reacted unanimously to Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis who made his way to gold at the Paris Olympics.

On Monday, Duplantis impressively jumped 6.25 meters, breaking the world record and securing gold at the Games.

Instead of celebrating the achievement, some users compared the Swedish athlete to Frenchman Anthony Ammirati – but not in terms of athleticism. The Frenchman went viral after his manhood hit the bar and moved him to 12th place.

As Ammirati’s accident gained popularity, the story had a significant impact on reactions to Duplantis’ victory.

Still, Duplantis enjoyed his victory in front of a large crowd in Paris.

After all other events of the evening had ended and 80,000 fans created a deafening atmosphere in Paris, he jumped 6.25 meters on his third and final attempt.

The Louisiana-born Swedish-American broke Thiago Braz’s Olympic record of 6.03m from Rio 2016 before his own world record of 6.24 m – set in April.

“I haven’t processed how amazing that moment was,” he said afterward. “It’s one of those things that doesn’t feel real, an out-of-body experience.

He added: ‘The biggest dream since I was a kid was to break the world record at the Olympics.

‘And I did it in front of the most ridiculous crowd I’ve ever fought in front of.

“I felt really prepared. I’ve never been so cooped up in my life as I have been in the last three months. Now I’m just ready to eat a ton of food. The party’s going to be pretty big.”
