Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Samurott 7-star Tera Raid guide

Samurottthe water-type Pokémon of Unova, makes his Pokémon Scarlet And purple debut in seven-star Tera Raids. It has a bug Tera typebut his attack types only allow a few stable counters.

Samurott with the bug Tera Type and Mightiest Mark only comes out in raids March 30 at 8pm EDT to April 2 at 7:59pm EDT And April 6 at 8 p.m. EDT through April 9 at 7:59 p.m. EDT.

Samurott Tera Raid Rewards

If you defeated Samurott, you can catch one, but only one. After you catch your first one, you can’t catch another one, even if you defeat it again in another attack. You also get TM88 (Swords Dance) and guaranteed Skill patch for your first win.

The captive Samurott has its Hidden Ability, Shell Armor, which prevents attacks from turning it into critical hits. It also comes with the Mightiest Mark, just like the Pokémon from previous seven-star raids. It also has complete perfect IVs.

As with other Tera Raids, you can get other drops such as Exp. Candy, Tera shards, bottle caps and treasure items to sell for money. Serebii.net has a complete drop table. Samurott raids don’t drop Herba Mystica.

Samurott Tera Raid best counters

Samurott is at level 100 with a Tera Type bug. It knows Aqua Cutter, Megahorn, Night Slash and Drill Run, as well as Focus Energy, Swords Dance and Bulldoze. These moves make it a physical attacker in the first place. It starts battle with Focus Energy, increasing the critical hit rate.

Remember that your Pokémon must be level 100 when you take them to Seven Star Attacks. You may be able to get away with not training them perfectly EV or IV, but it is recommended to do this for easier knockouts.

There are several builds that let you take down Samurott with ease, but below we list the builds we’ve personally partied with or knocked out the raid with.

Samurott Annihilape solo Tera Raid built

  • Nature: Rigid
  • Skill: Vital Spirit (but it doesn’t really matter)
  • Tera type: Ghost (but it doesn’t really matter)
  • EVs: 252 HP/252 Attack/4 Defense
  • IVs: Maximum HP, attack, defense
  • Held item: Shell bell
  • Move set: Scream, Anger Fist

We used an Annihilape we picked up on the side of the road to boost its IVs, but we had no EV training issues. Despite that, we still managed to do it solo Samurott with three NPCs. This is what we did:

  1. Use Screech twice to reduce Samurott’s attack before he puts on his Tera shield. Screech has no effect on Samurott as long as his shield is raised.
  2. Spam Rage Fist until it dies.
  3. When Samurott clears his debuffs and his shield is down, use Screech twice more.

Rage Fist deals more damage the more times your Annihilape is hit, making it super strong. You can also Terastallize if you have a ghost Tera Type to do more damage, but it can make you more susceptible to Samurott’s Night Slash. (Ours was fighting Tera Type, so we didn’t bother, but we still managed the attack.)

Your Annihilape may die once or twice along with the NPC Pokémon, but don’t worry too much. Annihilape will keep the Rage Fist stack even after it passes out and comes back, so it will stay very strong.

It’s entirely possible we got lucky with our NPCs (who used Sylveon, Drifblim, and Haxorus), so you might just be out of luck and roll some less useful Pokémon. At the time of writing, we can’t test this in more than one solo run, as we can only have one seven-star Tera Raid appear per day.

Keep in mind that using this strategy can be viable in multiplayer online raids, but it’s considerably more difficult – it really depends on your teammates bringing in Pokémon that don’t activate Samurott’s shield after one turn. You need it to be without a shield for two turns so you can use Screech against it.

Samurott Koraidon attacker Tera Raid built

  • Nature: Rigid
  • Skill: Orichalcum pulse
  • Tera type: To fight
  • EVs: 252 HP/252 Attack/4 Defense
  • IVs: Maximum HP, attack, defense
  • Held item: Orb of Life
  • Move set: Swords Dance, Flame Charge, Flare Blitz, Drain Punch
  • Other moves: Scream, Firefang

This is the Reddit build, but we’re hesitant to even recommend this build because there are so many people who bring in Koraidon and use the wrong moves. If you use Flare Blitz recklessly, your Koraidon will only be killed via knockback damage, wasting precious time on the raid.

We recommend running this in multiplayer only if your teammates bring in a lot of Screech-using Pokémon. This could be Annihilape (above), Corviknight (below), or other Screech users.

The Reddit strategy involves all three supports using Screech in the first turn, while Koraidon uses Swords Dance. In turn two, the supporters all use attack cheers and Koraidon uses Flare Blitz to knock out Samurott in one go. If you don’t OHKO spam Flame Charge on subsequent turns, while keeping your health up with Drain Punch.

It is extremely important that you allow the Screech-using Pokémon to set up without taking any damage. If Samurott is damaged too much, he will raise his shield and as mentioned above, Screech has no effect on Samurott if his Tera shield is up.

We did see players bring in Koraidon with Fire Fang and Screech, allowing them to debuff Samurott themselves before unleashing strong attacks that won’t kill their Koraidon at the same time.

Samurott Corviknight supports Tera Raid build

  • Nature: Relaxed
  • Skill: Mirror Armor (but it doesn’t really matter)
  • Tera type: Fly (but it doesn’t really matter)
  • EVs: 252 HP/252 Defense/4 Attack
  • IVs: Maximum HP, attack, defense
  • Held item: Zoom lenses
  • Move set: Screech, Taunt, Drill Peck, Roost

This is, again, via the Reddit strategy mentioned above, but it serves as a good support throughout. (See the section above for the official strategy to use alongside Koraidon.) Use Screech until Samurott’s attack can’t be lowered any further, then spam Drill Peck and throw in a Roost when your HP gets low. You can also use cheers to enhance your party if needed.

Corviknight is our support recommendation only because it’s immune to Samurott’s ground-type moves and can help with minor damage between debuffs.
