Pokémon Go Froakie Community Day Guide

pokemon go has a Froakie Community Day event on August 13 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

As expected at a Community Day event, Frokie will spawn in large numbers with a high chance of appearing shiny. There are also several other bonuses and benefits, which we list below.

How do I catch a shiny Froakie?

According to old research from the now-defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback machine), shiny rates on Community Days are about 1 in 25, which means if you keep playing for the three hours, you should find quite a few shiny Pokémon.

If you’re short on time or Poké Balls, you can get one Incensethen quickly tap each Froakie to check for shiny ones, walking away from any that aren’t shiny. Specifically, any Froakie you’ve already tapped will face where your player is standing, so that should help identify which ones you’ve already checked.

Which Community Day movement teaches the evolution of Froakie?

If your Frogadier evolves into Greninja from 2pm to 10pm in your local time, it will learn the loaded move Hydro cannon.

If you can’t evolve it during this time, you can probably evolve it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Hydro Cannon. If you don’t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM to get started.

How is Greninja doing in the meta?

Greninja is viable according to PvP an in-depth analysis by Silph Road subreddit expert JRE47, thanks to his new moves, both Hydro Cannon (his Community Day legacy move) and Water Shuriken. Notably, Water Shuriken makes it the fastest Hydro Cannon charger in the game.

For raids and PvE content, Greninja with Water Shuriken And Hydro cannon is one of the most powerful water-type attackers (when you remove Legendary Pokémon, Shadow Pokémon, and Mega Evolutions from the list). If you need water-type attackers, now’s your chance to grab a bunch of beefy frogs.

How do I get the most out of Froakie Community Day?

The following bonuses are active during Froakie Community Day:

  • Tripled Stardust for catching Pokémon
  • Doubled candy for catching Pokémon
  • Doubled chance for Level 31+ Trainers to get XL Candies by catching Pokémon
  • Incense lasts three hours
  • Lure Modules last three hours
  • Froakie special photobombs when taking snapshots
  • An extra special trade
  • Stardust cost halved for trade

That said, you should definitely drop a Star Piece and an Incense and try to get your hands on a powerful Froakie.

If you can Mega evolve Blastoise, Slowbro, Gyarados, or Swampertscore your extra Froakie Candy per catch.

In addition to all this, Niantic is still running special four-star raids from 5pm to 10pm where if you clear the Frogadier raid, Froakie will spawn in a 300m radius around the gym for 30 minutes. These raids cannot be done remotely. If the usual increase in spawn between 2pm and 5pm doesn’t give you the Froakie you wanted, you can try raiding for another chance.
