pokemongo hosts a Charmander Community Day Classic event September 2 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in your local time.
As expected at a Community Day event, Charmander will spawn in large numbers with a high chance of appearing shiny. There are also several other bonuses and benefits, which we have listed below.
How do I catch a shiny Charmander?
According to old research from the now-defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback machine), the Shiny percentages on Community Days are about 1 in 24, which means that if you keep playing for the entire three-hour period, you’ll find quite a few Shiny Pokémon.
If you’re short on time or Poké Balls, you can get one Incensethen quickly tap each Charmander to check for shiny ones, walking away from the ones that aren’t shiny. Notably, any Charmander you’ve already touched will see where your player is standing, so that should help identify which ones you may have already checked.
Which Community Day movement teaches Charmander’s evolution?
If your Charmeleon evolves into Charizard between 2pm and 7pm in your local time, it will learn the fast attack Dragon breath and charged movement Burn blast.
If you miss developing it during this time, you can probably develop it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Dragon Breath and Blast Burn. If you don’t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM to make the move.
How is Charizard doing in the meta?
Whoa, boy. While Charizard and its Mega variants are no longer at the top of the attacker list, Mega Charizard Y (the orange one) is still pretty high up there. Mega Charizard X and non-Mega Charizard (whether Shadow or not) are still listed on these damage-dealing lists, so you should definitely try to get your hands on a powerful Charmander.
Set up your Charizard with Fire Spin and Blast Burn and choose to Mega Evolve it into Mega Charizard Y for one of the best fire-type attackers in the game, for PvE content.
Charizard can see some use in PvP, but instead of giving him both Community Day moves, give him Wing Attack with Blast Burn and Dragon Claw for better type coverage and good energy regeneration. Wing Attack is an older attack, so you need an Elite TM to get it.
How do I get the most out of Charmander Community Day Classic?
The following bonuses are active during Charmander Community Day:
- Tripled Stardust for catching Pokémon
- Incense lasts three hours
- Lure Modules last three hours
- Charmander special photobombs when taking snapshots
That said, you should definitely pop a Star Piece and an Incense and try to get your hands on a powerful Charmander.
If you can Mega evolve Charizard, Houndoom or Blaziken, you score extra Charmander Candy per catch.
