Two men have drowned and a woman has been rushed to hospital after their boat capsized.

Emergency services were called to a beach near Point Connor, south of Beachport on South Australia’s Limestone Coast, on Monday morning after reports that a boat had capsized and three people were unresponsive on shore.

It was previously reported that two were missing in the water, while the third reached shore.

Two men aged 82 and 69 could not be resuscitated at the scene, while a woman aged 59 was taken to hospital.

The trio came from the nearby town of Millicent.

“The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing with the assistance of the Water Operations Unit,” a police statement said.

“There are no suspicious circumstances.”

The tragedy brings the number of drownings in Australia to 41 since December 1.

Meanwhile, the search for a missing swimmer on an Adelaide beach has been halted.

Authorities launched a major search at Henley Beach on Monday afternoon after a beachgoer reported seeing a swimmer in distress in the water.

The three-hour operation involved Surf Life Saving SA, ATVs, Polair and drones.

“After extensive research on the water and on the beach, no further sightings have been made and no reports of missing persons or other information have been received,” a police statement later said.
