PM Modi announces PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to invest over 75,000 cr | India News – Business Standard
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a plan to encourage people to install solar panels on their roofs.
According to Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the government aims to light up homes of over Rs 1 crore and provide free electricity to 300 units every month by investing over Rs 75,000 crore in this project.
This scheme was first announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the interim budget 2024-2025.
Under this scheme, beneficiaries will receive substantial subsidies transferred directly to their bank accounts.
Prime Minister Modi shared a series of tweets on X in which he also mentioned that the central government will ensure that there is no cost burden on the people. For even more convenience, all stakeholders are integrated into the National Online Portal.
“To popularize this scheme among the grassroots, urban local bodies and Panchayats will be encouraged to promote rooftop solar systems in their jurisdiction,” PM Modi added.
How to Apply for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna?
Here are the simple steps to apply for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna:
Step 1: The first step is to register and provide the following information;
Stands,
Electricity distribution company,
Consumer number,
Mobile number, and
E-mail identity.
Step 2: In this step you log in with your consumer and mobile number and request the roof solar according to the form
Step 3: In the third step, wait for your approval of the feasibility and install the installation by one of the registered suppliers in your DISCOM.
Step 4: After the installation has been completed successfully, you can request the net meter by providing your installation details.
Step 5: You will receive a commissioning certificate once the net meter installation and inspection have been carried out by DISCOM.
Step 6: Once you receive the commissioning report, submit your bank details and the canceled check through this portal. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
