Plus-size influencer targeted by TikTok scammer who steals her videos and poses as her

A major TikTok influencer ran a clip of her getting trapped between two airplane seats that were stolen by a troll pretending to be her to advocate for wider airplane aisles.

The manipulated video quickly went viral and showed the real influencer, BoBerryVIP, making his way down the aisle of an Airbus plane. But it was deceptively skewed by the fake account named Big Curvy Olivia.

In the fake video, Olivia notes that it’s discriminatory that she has to struggle through the seats on the plane while asking for wider aisles.

The caption read, “Frankly, it’s discrimination that they can’t build wider aisles on airplanes by 2023.”

That sparked numerous comments mocking the woman’s body and apparent rights, and was also picked up by multiple media outlets.

“Maybe switch to UPS Ground of Freight,” someone wrote. “Google Airbus Beluga,” another agreed. While another said, “That’s the kind of plane you need.”

In the actual video, posted in March, BoBerryVIP only offers tips on how to travel by plane if you’re plus size. She spoke of her difficulties accessing some airplane toilets, but did not call on airlines to widen aisles for travelers like her.

The poser shared this video of Mary discussing how she travels as a plus-size person and used it to stir up controversy by calling airline aisle widths “discriminatory”

The fake video of Mary on a plane — which has since been viewed 1.4 million times — has left more than 12,000 comments belittling the woman.

“Maybe the cargo hold would be better,” one user wrote.

“She’s right, I can’t even consider my pet elephant an emotional support animal,” replied another.

“She needed to know what the comments would look like if they posted this,” one TikTok user wrote.

However, the real video of Mary walking down the aisle came from her own TikTok account, where she shared tips on how to travel while plus size.

In the video, Mary never advocates wider aisles because of her weight, but rather discusses how she purposely travels on planes that can carry her.

The woman said she specifically books flights with wheelchair accessible toilets for bathroom purposes and urged others to check their own flights in advance.

In her comments, she was praised for sharing her tips and helping others.

“Wow, I never thought about wheelchair accessibility on a domestic/small flight,” one TikTok user wrote in her comment.

“As a wheelchair user who works for an advocacy organization, improving aircraft accessibility for all people is one of my top priorities,” commented another user.

‘Why didn’t I ever think of this? So many people are affected by this inaccessibility,” one wrote.

A shared video shows close-up photos of Mary in lingerie with the caption, “I may be fat, but I’m still prettier than all the skinny models out there.”

That TikTok, which has been viewed nearly 75,000 times, has spawned dozens of comments aimed at hating the woman and her weight.

“Like putting lipstick on a pig,” one user replied.

Another video shows Mary working out on an elliptical with a caption that reads, “My mom offered me $500 if I could run on this thing for 5 minutes straight.”

That video got over a million views and hundreds of comments.

“The strength and durability of that machine is second to none.”

“Must she be impressed by you or the machine that won’t budge?”

Other videos show the woman in swimsuits and lingerie that have generated thousands of hate comments.
