Plumpton High School teacher Tyson Moon is charged after being accused of vile act with a student
- On November 1, allegations against the teacher were reported to the police
A teacher at a secondary school in Sydney’s northwest has been charged with child abuse.
Tyson Moon, a music and drama teacher at Plumpton High School, was charged Nov. 14 with three counts of sexually touching a person over the age of 16 and under the age of 17 who was receiving special care.
The 26-year-old has been banned from teaching while the case is pending in court after the allegations were reported to police on November 1.
In a letter to parents sent on Tuesday, principal Tim Lloyd said the NSW Department of Education had assigned Moon to a ‘non-school work location’.
“While this matter is before the courts, the school cannot comment on anything related to it,” he said.
“As soon as this matter was brought to her attention, the school followed all related department policies and procedures, including support for students.”
