Hotel guests left in disbelief after making VERY pricey mistake
It’s easy to get carried away with the excitement of staying in a hotel, especially one as iconic as the Plaza Hotel.
Friends Amira Harvey and Jenna Sinatra were enjoying a luxurious night at New York’s infamous hotspot – which is especially popular for its presence in Home Alone 2 – when they made a very expensive mistake ordering room service.
Inspired by one of the famous scenes from the Christmas classic where Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) orders the extravagant sundae, Amira and Jenna did the same, only to discover it cost a whopping $500.
“Amira was so excited about the 16-flavor ice cream from the Home Alone movie,” Jenna said in the video. now viral clip TikTok posted.
In the video, room service came to the door with the huge ice cream dish, before a shocked Jenna signed the check.
“She said it was $100, we’ll be fine if we break up,” she continued, speaking of her boyfriend.
“That’s what I thought too,” Amira interjected.
“It costs $500,” Jenna revealed in shock.

To make matters worse, Amira hadn’t even seen the movie.
In a response, Jenna wrote that the dessert was “good” but “no ice cream is worth $500,” with Amira saying it wasn’t even the best ice cream she’d ever had.
The expensive menu item consists of 16 scoops of ice cream, whipped cream, maraschino cherries, M&Ms, brownie pieces, chocolate, caramel and raspberry sauce.
The women added that they also only received two flavors: chocolate and vanilla, which they were disappointed with.
Commentators were amused – and shocked – by the expensive mistake.
“So you’re telling me you paid $31.25 for just one scoop??? That’s insane,” one viewer wrote.
‘Omg it was just chocolate and vanilla!!?? That’s theft… I thought it was 16 flavors!’ said another in dismay.
“Do you know how much ice cream I can buy for $500?! That’s like ten dollars,” snapped another.

Even without the Christmas decorations, The Plaza Hotel remains largely unchanged from when it was featured in Home Alone 2 and its gold and red interior has a festive look all year round.
The luxury hotel is even offering the Kevin-inspired Have Fun In New York package, which includes a limousine ride, a large cheese pizza and a “Home Alone Sundae” as perks.
