PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan has been given a one-of-a-kind PS5 and I want it
PlayStation has created a unique PlayStation 5 in PlayStation 1 style, and unfortunately you can't buy it, but that doesn't stop us from dreaming about it.
Outgoing PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan received this incredible looking PS5 as a going away gift at his farewell party. Thanks to A we were able to see a small glimpse of it Twitter message from a PlayStation employee. The gamepad looks fantastic with the classic color scheme; the buttons and thumbstick also look great as they mimic the original style. If you're a fan of hardware collecting or just miss the retro style of the PS1, this would be a fantastic item to buy; Too bad you can't do that.
It's a real shame that players won't be able to admire this amazing console up close, especially since most of the comments are from fans raving about how great it looks. “This gamepad looks great; even the USB cable connector looks like the PS1,” said one commenter.
Too bad I won't be there for #TheGameAwards, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go to Jim Ryan's thank you party and be around some legends and this unique “Jim Ryan” PS5 in PS1- style. pic.twitter.com/WP7qwtxDI0December 7, 2023
Ryan's departure was first announced in late September 2023. An official Sony Interactive Entertainment blog post revealed that Ryan would step down in the spring of 2024, with Hiroki Totoki taking on the role of interim CEO, while also retaining his current role as president and COO at Sony Group.
“After 30 years, I have made the decision to retire from SIE in March 2024. I have enjoyed the opportunity to have a job that I love in a very special company, where I work with great people and great partners work. But I found it It is becoming increasingly difficult to combine living in Europe with working in North America. I will have had the privilege of working on products that touched millions of lives around the world; PlayStation will always remain a part of my life and I am more optimistic than ever about the future of SIE,” Ryan said in the blog post.
This also isn't the first time PlayStation has unveiled incredible PS5 gamepads that weren't available to the public. In January 2023, Sony sent PlayStation employees custom Dualsense controllers. The fantastic 'Play Has No Limits' controller was covered in the iconic button shapes with a faint geometric gray line behind them. Both controllers look fantastic; it's just a shame that players are left standing on the outside looking in again.
