PLAYER RATINGS: Two Spurs stars score just 5/10 as scorers Brennan Johnson and West Ham captain Kurt Zouma stand out in 1-1 draw between rivals
A sometimes heated London derby between West Ham and Tottenham ultimately ended on a level score with the points shared between the two teams.
Brennan Johnson has been in good form in recent weeks and the Welshman repaid Ange Postecoglou’s faith in him by beating a low Timo Werner to give the visitors the lead after just five minutes.
The Hammers were not about to fall behind, however, and captain Kurt Zouma managed to direct Jarrod Bowen’s corner past Guglielmo Vicario to level matters.
Both teams had chances to take the lead after the break and as the momentum of the match waned in the closing stages, a late flurry threatened to break the deadlock in stoppage time.

Came into the starting line-up after Alphonse Areola suffered an injury during the defeat at Newcastle. Couldn’t do much about the goal he conceded

Got the runaround from Timo Wener in the first half and let his cross in too easily for Spurs’ opener, but improved after the break.
Konstantinos Mavropanos – 6.5
Was pushed slightly on his heels in the Spurs opener, but did well to limit Son Heung-Min’s impact on the match. Can be pleased with his performance here.
Kurt Zouma-7
David Moyes had called on his leaders to act and the West Ham captain responded. Scored with his back from Bowen’s corner to put his side level in the first half and kept Son quiet alongside Mavropanos. The defender’s best game in a long time.
Captain Zouma did well to keep Tottenham’s attackers quiet and stepped out to find the net when his team needed a goal
Konstantinos Mavropanos was reliably solid and composed for the hosts as they suppressed Spurs’ attacks
Emerson-6
Brennan couldn’t track Johnson for the opening goal, but then kept him quiet for much of the game. Didn’t get much chance to get involved in the West Ham attacks.
Tomas Soucek – 6.5
A steady performance from the Czech midfielder. Mopped up defensively when needed, making a few key tackles to break Tottenham’s attacks.
James Ward-Prowse-6
Has started the last two games due to Edson Alvarez’s suspension but isn’t sure he has done enough to keep him out of the squad for Saturday’s trip to Wolves. Struggling to make much of an impact and still seems to lack confidence.
Jarrod Bowen-6.5
He missed a good chance to score early on before Spurs took the lead, but did provide the assist for Zouma’s goal. A willing runner, as he always is, and kept trying to make things happen.

Showed flashes of quality at times, but his end product and final pass were lacking.
Mohammed Kudus-6
After livening up St James’ Park with a goal and assist at the weekend, the winger had a quieter evening at the London Stadium. We couldn’t really get Pedro Porro at right back, who had a comfortable night.
Michael Antonio-6
Managed the line well and made himself difficult on set pieces, but missed a great 1v1 chance to put his team ahead on the hour mark. Will be disappointed he didn’t do better. Booked.

Manager – David Moyes – 6
Will be happy with the reaction after last weekend’s defeat to Newcastle. A valuable point for his team, which was much better in defense despite an early setback. Will be frustrated that Antonio didn’t convert his big chance.

Looked a little unsure through West Ham’s set-pieces and allowed Antonio to bully him a few times. But didn’t have many shots to save after the equalizer.
Pedro Porro – 6.5
Made sure Kudus didn’t get any time or space on the ball and did his best to get forward to join his team’s attacks.
Cristian Romero – 6.5
A solid performance from Tottenham’s reliable centre-back. Restricted West Ham’s attackers to half-chances, with the exception of the 1-on-1 Antonio conceded in the second half.
Micky from the Ven-6
Was outscored by Zouma for West Ham’s equalizer and looked to be losing the physical battle with Antonio. But improved in the second half to limit West Ham’s chances in front of goal. Booked.
Vicario made an important save to deny Antonio from close range in the second half
Destiny Udogie was involved in a spirited battle with Bowen down Tottenham’s left flank
Lot Udogie – 6.5
Coped well with the task of defending against Bowen, even though the winger got in behind him a few times in the first half. In the second half I couldn’t make much progress.
Yves Bissouma-6
He tried to get his team onto the field, but couldn’t really leave his mark on the match. But he managed to keep Paqueta quiet for much of the night.
Rodrigo Bentancur-6
Neatly in possession of the ball without creating clear opportunities. He didn’t put a foot wrong before his manager decided to bring on the fresh legs of Pape Matar Sarr in the 70th minute.
Brennan Johnson-6.5
Showed great movement to convert Timo Werner’s cross in the fifth minute but disappeared from the game as the evening progressed. Had to run against Emerson more in the second half. Booked.
James Maddison-5
Unusually quiet game for Tottenham’s creative man. Got involved in an altercation with Paqueta in the first half which seemed to unsettle him and then struggled to make much of an impact.
James Madison was not at his best when he got involved in a fight with Paqueta
So often, Spurs danger man Son Heung-min was kept quiet by the Hammers’ disciplined defensive line
Timo Werner-6.5
Started very well and showed speed and precision to create the opening goal. Should have kept running at Coufal, but ultimately disappeared from the game in the second half.

A very quiet evening for the Tottenham captain, who was closely marked by West Ham’s two centre-backs. A frustrating evening for the attacker.
Manager – Ange Postecoglou – 6
Will be frustrated with the way his team conceded from a set-piece after a strong start. Will also be disappointed by their lack of creativity in the second half.
