PLAYER RATINGS: Richarlison haunts former club Everton with a brilliant brace… but Jarrad Branthwaite takes the headlines with a later header
Jarrad Branthwaite scored in stoppage time to rescue a point for Everton in an entertaining 2-2 draw against Tottenham at Goodison Park.
Ange Postcoglou’s side had taken the lead after just four minutes when Richarlison chased his old club with a powerful strike from the penalty area.
However, the Toffees equalized after half an hour through Harrison, before Richarlison restored Spurs’ lead just before half-time.
Branthwaite nodded the ball into the back post in the fourth minute of extra time to grab a draw for the hosts.
Mail Sport’s Lewis Steele gives his verdict on the players in his match ratings.
EVERTON (4-4-1-1)
Jordan Pickford 7: The Toffees goalkeeper was helpless to stop two brilliant strikes from Rharlison but then made a number of good saves.
Ben Godfrey 7: His goal-bound goal from a deep angle at the back post led to the equalizer.
Tarkowski 6.5: Could have gone tighter to block Udogie’s cross for the opener.
Jarrad Branthwaite 7: The greatest success story of the Dyche era. He made sure it was him and not Richarlison who grabbed the headlines with a late goal.
Vitaliy Mykolenko 6: Things went well with Brennan Johnson.
James Garner 6.5: Delivered some corner kicks, causing Spurs problems throughout the match.
Idrissa Gueye 6: I made a bad decision by taking a bad shot instead of playing wide just as Spurs opened.
Ashley Young: Wasn’t involved as much as he would have liked before being replaced by teenager Youssef Chermiti.
Jack Harrison 6.5: He’s listed as the scorer for the opener, but not sure if he knew anything about it.
Dwight Mcneil 6.5: Like Garner at the other end, he delivered some fantastic corner kicks.
Calvert-Lewin 7: Bright performance from the forward but his goal drought continues after Harrison was awarded a goal he thought he had scored.
TOTTENHAM (4-2-3-1)
Guglielmo Vicario 6: As in last week’s loss to Manchester City, he was pushed around far too easily.
Pedro Porro 6: He was unusually quiet and didn’t get on the ball as often as usual.
Christian Romero 6.5: The ball came off his head before falling to Branthwaite for the late equalizer.
Van de Ven 7.5: Brilliant performance from the Dutchman. Looked as fast and strong as ever.
Destiny Udogie 7: Looked like a threat every time he stepped up and managed to get an assist.
Rodrigo Bentancur 7: Kept Tottenham going with some good passing from midfield.
Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg 7: The Danish midfielder was strong and again made good tackles.
Brennan Johnson: Relatively quiet on the right side.
James Maddison 7.5: Excellent performance from the Englishman. Made a brilliant pass to Richarlison for the second goal.
Timo Werner 7.5: Looked dangerous on the left wing and his pace caused Everton problems. Should have done better to bury a big chance in the second half.
Richarlison 8: Was the best player on the pitch as he showed his old employers what they are missing with an impressive brace’
