PLAYER RATINGS: Pedro Porro produced another exciting display for Tottenham but which FOUR of his team-mates produced a 5/10 display – with one failing in an emergency role?

Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League has been confirmed with a 2-1 defeat at Tottenham as Spurs remain in the hunt for the top four.

Although Spurs have kept their top four hopes alive, the Clarets have gone down for the second time in three years after a terrible, toothless campaign.

Jacob Bruun Larsen gave Burnley hope when he scored the opener after 25 minutes, but Pedro Porro restored parity seven minutes later.

Ange Postecoglou’s side pressed on and their perseverance was rewarded in the second half when Micky van de Ven netted the ball. This wasn’t a vintage performance, but they got the job done and are four points behind Aston Villa.

Mail Sport’s Aadam Patel takes the player ratings from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League has been confirmed with a 2-1 defeat at Spurs

Tottenham (4-2-3-1)

Guglielmo Vicario-6

His defense didn’t help him at Anfield last week and was kept busy here as he was forced into a top save early on to deny Vitinho.

Couldn’t do anything to stop Burnley’s opening goal and it’s now been over two months since Spurs last kept a clean sheet.

Pedro Porro7

It speaks volumes that Kieran Tripper is the only defender to have been directly involved in more Premier League goals than Porro this season.

The right-back’s goal here was fantastic and while he needs to work on the defensive side of his game, there is little doubt about what he can offer offensively. Always exciting to watch and close to a goal again in the second half.

Cristian Romero-6

The pre-match program highlighted that this is still a young Spurs side, many of whom are in their first Premier League season.

This is only his second in the top flight and after a tough performance last week, this win and performance will have done the Argentinian a lot of good.

Pedro Porro was fantastic, scoring the opening goal and is always exciting to watch

Micky from the Ven-7

With Oliver Skipp at left-back and regularly drifting into midfield, Ange Postecoglou must have felt that Van de Ven’s pace would cover him when Burnley countered, but he could do nothing to get over and prevent Burnley through Jacob Bruun Larsen would take the lead.

Overall, played a comfortable game and ended with an excellent finish, which gave Spurs the three points.

Oliver Skipp-5

Back in the starting line-up after an impressive cameo from the bench at Anfield last week.

He was certainly better in the role than Emerson Royal, whom he replaced, but this experiment as an emergency link-back ultimately failed and Skipp was to blame for allowing Bruun Larsen to run clear in front of goal.

Booked in the second half before being replaced by Radu Dragusin in the 75th minute.

Micky van de Ven produced a fine run and finished to score Spurs’ second goal and seal Burnley’s fate

Oliver Skipp failed in his role as emergency left back, but he was better than Emerson!

Yves Bissouma-5

You get the feeling he needs this season to end. Had a great start to the campaign but has looked tired and much less involved in the game in recent weeks. Replaced in the 75th minute for Rodrigo Bentancur.

Pape Matar Sarr-6

The 21-year-old will be a crucial part of this Spurs side next season, but apart from a few encouraging runs through the center and a late chance, Sarr had a quiet game.

Dejan Kulusevski-5

Had a poor first half on the left flank where he was wasteful with the ball.

He then switched sides with Brennan Johnson at half-time and his second-half performance was much improved, before being replaced by Dane Scarlett in the 75th minute.

James Maddison-6

Just like Skipp, back in the starting line-up after a decent performance from the bench at Anfield. Was full of energy and brilliant with his link-up play but will be disappointed that he failed to get on the scoresheet and missed two brilliant chances.

Booked in the second half and left in the 88th minute to a standing ovation.

Dejan Kulusevski was wasteful in the first half but improved after the break when he switched sides

Tottenham substitutes

Radu Dragusin-6

Dane Scarlett – 5

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 5

Giovani Lo Celso – 5

Brennan Johnson5

Would certainly like to please his former side Nottingham Forest, but the 22-year-old missed two golden chances in the first half.

First he was denied by Arijanet Muric and then he tried to be too clever and squandered a glorious opportunity when he tried to beat him at the near post rather than square it. He missed another sitter in the second half and although he puts himself in threatening positions, he simply needs to do better in front of goal. Wasteful.

Son Heung-min 6

For anyone who has been to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in recent years, it is clear how many fans come to watch Heung-Min Son.

He’s a hero for the South Koreans, but this was an uncharacteristically below-par performance until the 78th minute when he showed his class to set up Johnson, who somehow missed with an open net in front of him.

Son Heung-min underperformed until the 78th minute, when he set up Brennan Johnson… but his teammate missed an open goal

Burnley (4-4-2)

Arijanet Muric-7

He started the match with a save percentage of 81.3 percent, the best of any goalkeeper in the Premier League, and made nine saves throughout the match.

Some of those were fantastic, but he was guilty of losing the ball carelessly and will feel he could have done better to prevent Porro from beating him at the near post. Couldn’t do anything to keep Van de Ven’s attack out.

Lorenz Assignon-6

A display full of tenacity and was up and down all afternoon but spent far too much time on the ground when tackled.

Lorenz Assignon was full of perseverance and was up and down all afternoon

Dara O’Shea-6

He will be annoyed for not putting pressure on Porro for Spurs’ equalizer but generally doing well alongside Maxime Esteve. It certainly would have been a tougher afternoon if Richarlison was there.

Maxime Esteve-6

Formed a good partnership with O’Shea and defended well, but ultimately Spurs’ quality showed.

Charlie Taylor-6

Replaced Josh Brownhill and made a crucial early block to deny Maddison. Part of a Burnley four who all put in solid shifts, but it still wasn’t enough.

Vitinho-6

Offered a threat and would have been disappointed his early header failed to beat Vicario. Replaced in the 72nd minute by Manuel Benson as Vincent Kompany’s side hunted for the winner.

Vitinho will have been disappointed when he failed to score against Spurs and was substituted in the 72nd minute

Burnley subtitles

Manuel Benson – 5

Mike Tresor – 5

David Datro Fofana – 5

Zeki Amdouni-5

Josh Cullen-6

He picked up an early yellow card but led from the front on a day when Burnley’s fate was confirmed, repeatedly putting his body on the line.

Sander Berge-7

Did excellently to get an assist, driving through Spurs’ midfield before teeing up Bruun Larsen with a perfectly weighted delivery. Easily Burnley’s best player of the afternoon.

Bruun Larsen-7

A beautifully taken goal that gave Burnley the lead. Just before half time he had another good chance. Worked tirelessly throughout the match and was replaced in the 81st minute with nothing left in the tank.

Jacob Bruun Larsen took his goal beautifully and worked hard, but could not find another goal

Lyle Foster-5

There was a lack of supply all afternoon, sending off for David Datro Fofana as Burnley chased the match.

Wilson Odobert-6

Like Foster, he lacked supply but showed promising signs with a great throw to put Vitinho ahead in the first half and was unlucky not to score himself.
