A Playboy model who starred in Russia’s “The Bachelor” has died while waiting for a lung transplant after years of suffering following a car accident.
Veronika Murashkina, 31, from Toguchin, Russia, was run over by a drunk driver in 2020, leaving the model bedridden as her leg was severely mangled.
While in bed she developed a life-threatening lung disease and was placed on an urgent transplant list, but Veronika died on October 18 – just days before her operation was due to take place.
Veronika rose to fame in 2017 when she took part in the fifth season of the Russian version of ‘The Bachelor’, where she fought for the heart of popular actor Ilya Glinnikov.
She lived in the Russian capital Moscow, where she studied economics and later built a modeling career.

However, in the summer of 2020, her glamorous life came to an end when she was involved in a horrific car accident.
She had traveled to her hometown of Toguchin to visit her mother and grandmother.
One evening in August, she went for a walk on the street with childhood friends she had not seen for a long time.
Suddenly, a car driven by a drunk classmate flew into the parking lot where the group was hanging out.
Veronika took the brunt of the blow and was seriously injured. For years, doctors did everything they could to save her leg, and she underwent a very long rehabilitation.
She had to give up her modeling career and devoted her time to arts and crafts.

It is reported that due to the long time Veronika was bedridden, her immune system became weakened and she developed the disease which was reportedly so severe that she required a lung transplant.
A friend of hers told local media: ‘After the serious accident, her leg was literally put back together piece by piece. She was treated for a long time, stayed in clinics and recovered.
‘It seemed like her problems were finally in the past, but when the lung disease struck her, new ones arose.’
It is reported that due to the long time Veronika was bedridden, her immune system became weakened and she developed the disease which was reportedly so severe that she required a lung transplant.
The friend added: ‘Veronika was on the waiting list for a transplant but she didn’t live to see it. This smart person died tonight.”
