Plastic surgeons explain what happened to Matt Gaetz’s face
The debut of Matt Gaetz’s new show has caught people’s attention, but not because of its political analyzes or controversial recordings.
Instead, viewers on social media lined up to comment on his new facial transformation, pointing out his orange hue and “Cruella de Vil eyebrows.”
Three plastic surgeons who spoke to DailyMail.com said they believed Gaetz, 42, showed signs of heavy Botox use, as well as filler to enhance his facial features.
Dr. Christopher Costa, a plastic surgeon in Las Vegas, said, “What it looks like to me is that he’s almost been overtreated with neurotoxins, things like Botox.
‘With your standard neurotoxin treatment, your goal is to soften the lines, but still have facial expression and still be able to move the face.
“But in his case, it’s almost like he got a double dose, like these patients who come in and say, ‘I want you to freeze my face.’
Dr. Costa suggested that Gaetz had received the injections in his forehead, the area around his eyes and even his upper lip – called a ‘lip flip’ and done to make the lip appear fuller.
The surgeons also speculated that Gaetz had likely undergone skin treatments, such as lasers and peels, to achieve his smooth and wrinkle-free appearance.

Dr. Michael Persky, a plastic surgeon in California, said, “Matt Gaetz’s aesthetic providers violated my four-word beauty philosophy, ‘No one should know!’
‘Representative. Gaetz has received too much Botox in his forehead, which has resulted in virtually no movement, a flat and unnatural forehead, and the dreaded… arched eyebrows.
“This is commonly called the ‘El Diablo forehead’, the ‘Cruella De Vil forehead’.”
Dr. Paul Rosenberg, a plastic surgeon in New Jersey, added: “He’s had Botox… and, to be honest, not injected in the most professional way, because he’s manifesting what we call the ‘Spock look.’
“So when he raises his eyebrows to look animated… everything is frozen except the center of the forehead, which artificially raises his eyebrows.”
Spock is a fictional character from Star Trek who has distinctive eyebrows that are raised too high and have a ‘drawn’ appearance.
Gaetz has not previously responded to allegations that he may have undergone Botox or other cosmetic treatments. DailyMail.com contacted its representatives for comment.

Gaetz appeared on TV screens yesterday for the first episode of his new show, which aired on the conservative One America News Network (OANN).
It was his first appearance in the public domain after he resigned from the post of attorney general and left Congress in late November amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
Gaetz is one of the Republicans in Trump’s circle who, according to plastic surgeons, probably had cosmetic work done.
But Democrats aren’t immune to plastic surgery rumors either, with Joe Biden heavily speculating that he has had a facelift.
Commenting on his performance, one viewer said, “Matt Gaetz shows off the new Botox on his show on OANN. Gross.’
A second said: ‘Matt Gaetz is now on telly with some fresh Botox it seems’, and a third said: ‘Matt Gaetz looks EXTRA cringey in this new look’.
Gaetz also sparked speculation about his appearance at the Republican National Convention last July.
Many surgeons at the time suggested that his raised eyebrows were probably the result of ‘exaggerated Botox’, which caused the muscles to lift unusually.
Dr. Costa suggested that this could be the result of a PDO thread lift or polydioxanone thread lift.
The procedure uses absorbable threads to tighten and lift the skin in areas of the face, including around the eyebrows, to create a younger appearance.
