Shania Twain’s return to public life has sparked speculation about her drastically changed face.
The Queen of Country, 59, hosted the People’s Choice Country Awards last month, where she wore a Barbie-inspired denim outfit and donned a blonde wig.
But many fans said it wasn’t just her hair and makeup that looked different. Some described her as “unrecognizable,” while more mean-spirited commentators said she looked “Muppet-like,” a reference to the puppet television program.
Dr. Gary Motykie, a plastic surgeon to the stars in Beverly Hills, California, told DailyMail.com that although Twain looked “great” for her age, he saw several signs that she may have undergone cosmetic enhancements.
He said her lack of lines and “more open” eyes indicated she may have undergone a brow lift, a procedure in which an incision is made behind the hairline to lift and tighten the skin, smooth wrinkles and sagging to reduce.

He also suggested that her lack of wrinkles could be due to the use of Botox, and said her fuller face in previous images suggested she had used filler.
He added that her dramatic costume made him suspect something had been done about it, as celebrities can do this to “distract” from cosmetic changes.
“It’s an effective way to shift focus and get people to speculate,” he added.
‘Shania Twain has been known to use wigs in recent years to completely transform her appearance, allowing her to reinvent herself on a regular basis.
‘In the world of celebrity plastic surgery, we have also noticed that dramatic hairstyles are increasingly being used to distract from changes that may have occurred as a result of going under the knife or receiving fillers and Botox.’
Dr. Adam Rubinstein, a plastic surgeon in Miami, Florida, told DailyMail.com that he suspected Shania may have undergone eyelid surgery, also called blepharoplasty.
“Shania has beautiful cheekbones, a great jawline, she has naturally great structure and she is aging extremely well,” he said.
‘But the one thing I do see is that her eyes look very fresh, especially the upper eyelids.
‘Her upper eyelids look a little fuller and heavier beforehand, but when you look at the People’s Choice Awards they look a little more open and brighter.

He added: ‘It could be make-up, but it seems that because they look so fresh, an upper eyelid lift – or eyelid lift – is possible.’
Shania has denied having any plastic surgery The sun in May at the start of her third residency in Las Vegas – Come on Over: ‘Every month or day I notice a new sagging or another patch of cellulite, I want to know it’s there.
‘I want to be okay with it instead of thinking: I should cover it up or not watch it. I can’t change it, and I don’t intend to change it superficially.
‘I have to put myself on stage without feeling like I have to cover myself up. I want to feel liberated.’

In January this year, she also denied the rumors on the Hoda Kotb show, saying she loved her “own skin.”
DailyMail.com contacted Shania’s team for comment.
After she debuted the new look at the People’s Choice Awards, fans were quick to respond on social media, saying, “No way, she’s not Shania.”
A second added: ‘Until I read it was her I couldn’t recognize her,’ and a third said: ‘plastic surgery ruining what was a beautiful face.’
The surgeons also compared photos of Shania from 2008 to late 2010 to suggest she may have had filler.

Dr. Motykie said, “I think what some people in her shoes, and a lot of people do, is that as they get older, they want to try things that don’t involve incisions and major surgeries.
“So they start playing with things like injectable fillers and Botox, to try to eliminate looseness in the skin without causing lifting or scarring, and in many cases they start overfilling.”
“They put on a little bit, and then a little bit more, and then that filler starts to absorb water and they start to look poofy.”
Dr. Rubinstein also suggested that her wrinkle-free appearance was likely helped by Botox, and he suggested that she might maintain her lips with filler.
But he disagreed with the suggestion that she had used filler in the rest of her face, saying: ‘The kind of bags we see with fillers are usually in specific areas, and I don’t see that on her because she generally looks fuller.
‘The swollen appearance may be related to weight gain.’
Dr. Christopher Costa, who runs Platinum Plastic Surgery in Las Vegas, told DailyMail.com that he thought the initial changes in her appearance were due to weight gain.
“I agree that her face has changed dramatically over the past decade from a fuller and rounder look to a much more sculpted and sharper look,” he said.
‘However, my opinion is that the changes in her face are more likely related to general weight changes.’

In 2018, Shania underwent open-throat surgery to repair her vocal cords after their nerves were damaged by a Lyme disease infection.
The superstar said the disease left her unable to project her voice for seven years and left her “petrified” about going under the knife to fix them.
She told Britain’s Graham Norton show in 2023: ‘I’m just grateful, to be honest.
‘I thought for a long time that I would never be able to sing again or that I would no longer be able to really cheer loudly at a sports match.’
Shania is known for her health and fitness routine, which has kept her body in top shape for decades.
Shania revealed her diet in May this year, saying she is a vegetarian and only consumes liquids before her shows, such as spinach and blueberry shakes.
She also works out three to five times a week and says she enjoys playing tennis, with the court being her gym.
