Plastic surgeons explain Christina Aguilera’s new ‘fox-like face’

Pop superstar Christina Aguilera has been open about her love of Botox in the past, while maintaining a touch of subtlety in her appearance.

But fans are now noticing more drastic changes in the “Genie in a Bottle” singer’s appearance, including a slim figure that could be related to weight-loss drugs like Wegovy, sculpted cheekbones and uplifted, foxy eyes.

Cosmetic surgeons told DailyMail.com that over the years the singer has had expert Botox placed to smooth wrinkles, plump up her lips and had a possible facelift to sculpt her face and lift her eyes.

Fillers have become extremely popular over the years, thanks in part to their famous fans, perhaps most notably the Kardashian/Jenner family.

According to the doctors who spoke to DailyMail.com on the subject, Aguilera has taken on a more natural appearance, with her extensive facial features blending together beautifully.

Plastic surgeons told DailyMail.com that Aguilera likely had a facelift to sculpt her cheekbones and smooth the lines between her nose and lips. She probably also had filler done there, as well as on her lips

Doctors call the ‘Beautiful’ singer ‘ageless’.

Dr. Michael Bassiri-Tehrani, a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York City, told DailyMail.com, “She looks fantastic.

‘I think her face looks a bit more mature now compared to 1999. She’s always had great mid-face volume, so her cheeks were always quite full, and she had a really strong jawline and chin, which looks even more so now. I would say accentuated.’

The pop singer has likely expertly applied Botox or Dysport to her forehead and around the eyes to refine her complexion and smooth out fine lines.

Botox and Dysport work by relaxing the muscles in the face that cause wrinkles, making the skin smoother.

However, they are not a permanent solution for wrinkles. The effects last about three to four months.

Dr. Bassiri-Tehrani added: ‘What really makes the difference is the top third of her face, and she’s doing what a lot of people have done in recent years, which is making the forehead more angular and stronger.

“That will draw attention and make it look like there’s a little more of a fox’s eye.”

More and more famous celebrities, including Kendall Jenner and Megan Fox, are circulating rumors that they have undergone a ‘fox eye lift’ to achieve the almond-shaped eyes.

Dr. Thomas Barnes, a board-certified surgeon in Newport Beach, California, said she may have had a deep facelift to lift her eyes.

The procedure is more advanced than a traditional facelift and involves lifting and repositioning deep layers of facial tissue. This method avoids the dreaded artificial pulled appearance of some traditional facelifts.

He told DailyMail.com: ‘You will notice that the nasolabial folds in the photo are very flat, and the only way you can really change that is by having a deep facelift.

“And you’ll notice on the front of her tragus, which is in front of the left ear area, that it looks like a little crease, which is very common after a facelift through that area.”

Dr. Brian Reagan, a plastic surgeon based in San Diego, California, noticed that she does not have the typical folds between her nose and mouth, and suggested that filler may have been involved. He made this comment while referencing a 2016 photo of Aguilera dressed in a Rosie the Riveter-inspired outfit

He said the sides of her eyes appear several millimeters higher, her cheeks are higher, and her nasolabial folds (the vertical lines that form between the bottom of the nose and the lips) have been smoothed out.

Dr. Brian Reagan, a plastic surgeon in San Diego, California, echoed Dr. Barnes, but added that filler could also play a role, pointing to a 2016 photo of Aguilera in a Rosie the Riveter-style ensemble.

He added that her upper lip is more heart-shaped than when she was younger.

Her upper lip has a slight upward twist, which can be achieved with Botox, often called a ‘lip flip’, to improve the appearance of the lip and add volume.

The image of her wearing the red bandana is a good example of that technique, Dr. Reagan said. Additionally, her lower lip appears fuller, especially in the center.

Comparing these photos, it seems likely that she has had lip filler, and it looks good considering her upper lip was quite thin in photos of her from the 90s and early 2000s.

In it, he said he could notice a lack of facial features, specifically the nasolabial fold, also known as laugh lines or smile lines.

Dr. Reagan said, “That’s sometimes associated with overuse of fillers. I can’t say for sure, but it seems like her facial volume has increased.’

Dr. Thomas Barnes, a board-certified surgeon in Newport Beach, California, said Aguilera likely had surgery to reduce the curve of the tip of her nose. Doctors can achieve this appearance by shaving off the cartilage on the sides of the tip of her nose

Dr. Barnes said she also appears to have had at least one procedure to reduce the puffiness, or roundness, on the tip of her nose by shaving off the sides.

He added: ‘She’s had a nose job but it’s very subtle, making her nose look more pointed and looking slimmer. Her nostrils are different and a little thinner. The width of the nose is less.’

Her lips are also noticeably fuller than when her career started, which for Dr. Smita Ramanadham suggests she has strategically plumped the sides and center of her upper and lower lips to plump them up.

She said: ‘Obviously she’s lining (her lips) in that photo, but when you actually look at the lip itself, there’s volume everywhere.

‘You can use fillers in a very complicated way to enlarge or not enlarge certain areas. But I think for her she definitely had an overall enlargement of the area.”

Aguilera has said that she believes it is important to maintain expressiveness in her face. Women rarely enter the offices of plastic surgeons with the request to look frozen and amazed all the time.

Christina Aguilera has been stunning fans lately with her weight loss. Plastic surgeons said this likely played a role in changing her face, for example making it more angular

Dr. Craig Blum, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Charleston, South Carolina, echoed Dr. Ramanadham and said that Botox Aguilera “gives a more youthful appearance while retaining expressiveness.”

Microblading the eyebrows is also an extremely popular way to lift the eyes by creating realistic hair-like strokes using semi-permanent tattoo ink.

Aguilera’s cheekbones are high, which is further accentuated by her almond-shaped eyes. Losing weight is one of the most effective ways to get defined cheekbones, and rumor has it that Aguilera used Ozempic or Wegovy to shed pounds.

Dr. Rukmini Rednam, a Houston-based plastic surgeon, said the singer’s sculpted face is more likely thanks to a combination of healthy weight loss and non-invasive treatments with some minor surgery.

The star appears slimmer than she has been in years in recent social media posts, following a bout of weight gain that began in early 2010.

She told DailyMail.com: ‘As an expert in weight loss treatments, I have seen first-hand how powerful weight loss can transform a face.

“In addition to comparing a photo of her from childhood to adulthood, there are also benefits to growing older, a clearer face and more feminine versus childish features that occur naturally.”
