Plastic surgeon reveals what procedures ‘The Boys’ star Erin Moriarty has had… and why it looks so different

Erin Moriarty’s return to television has reignited the debate over whether she has had cosmetic surgery.

Many fans are speculating that the 30-year-old ‘Starlight’ actress, who plays a superhero on the Amazon series ‘The Boys,’ has undergone changes, saying the ongoing comments about it are ‘very… telling.’

DailyMail.com spoke to three plastic surgeons who agreed the star was beautiful, but that she had likely undergone surgery.

The surgeons, who did not hear the others’ comments, all said she had had a nose job, noting her smoother bridge and more pointed tip.

They all indicated that she had had fillers in her cheeks and lips and Botox in her forehead. Two of them also indicated that she may have had a brow lift.

Moriarty replied that the “before” photo was taken ten years ago and that her changed appearance was solely due to “contouring.”

In total, they estimated she spent somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000. They said it gave her a more angular, heart-shaped face, compared to the “boyish” and “girl next door” look she had before.

Ms Moriarty has previously denied having plastic surgery, saying it was ‘just contouring’.

She has also dismissed anyone who suggested she had undergone procedures as “misogynists” and “bullies” making “false” allegations. In an Instagram post released yesterday, she added the caption “haters guna hate.”

Many have previously called on celebrities to be open about plastic surgery, in order to create realistic beauty expectations for young women and those concerned about their appearance.

According to experts, this also helps build and promote trust and honesty between celebrities and the public.

Dr Deniz Sarhaddi, a Missouri plastic surgeon who specialises in facial modifications, told DailyMail.com she is confident Ms Moriarty underwent surgery.

“The easiest thing to see here is the nose job,” she said.

Surgeons say the tip is more refined and the top of the nose is more streamlined. There is no longer a hump visible in earlier photos.

“Normally, people don’t get bigger cheekbones and a tighter jawline with age, which is why I recommend fillers,” she added.

‘She also doesn’t have any fine lines on her forehead, so it looks like she’s had a brow lift. A lot of celebrities, like Ariana Grande, have one, I’d put my money on it.

“It’s a very stealthy procedure because the scars are only about an inch long and are behind the hairline. Yet those lines are kept as small as possible.”

“She also has fillers in her lips and she may have had surgery to reduce buccal fat in the lower cheeks, although that line there could be contouring as well.”

Dr. Elie Levine, a plastic surgeon in New York City, agreed: “She definitely had a nose job, her cheeks are definitely augmented — it could be fillers or implants — and her lips look much fuller as well.

He added: ‘She’s 10 years older and yet her brow position looks as good as it did 10 years ago, which of course we wouldn’t see. So she may have had a brow lift.

Dr. Gary Linkov, a plastic surgeon also based in New York City, agreed with the assessments of the other two surgeons.

However, he suggested that she may have had a bletheroplasty, a reduction of the skin above the eyes, because the eyes suddenly looked more open.

Other surgeons disagreed, stating that this procedure would normally only be performed by older people, usually around 40.

According to the surgeons, the change in her facial expression had likely caused a lot of speculation online, as she looked “radically different”.

Dr Sarhaddi said: ‘She looks beautiful in both photos, but the first one (from 2013) is aesthetically very different to the second.

‘In the later photos she looks a bit more exaggerated, for example her cheeks are super high and hollow, there is a shift in proportions.’

Dr. Levine added: ‘If you look at her at 19, I would say I wouldn’t describe her as striking as much as beautiful and attractive with a youthful look – she’s very much the girl next door type.

‘But if you look at her now, she’s very clean, with straight lines and sharp angles. It’s striking, but not particularly warm.

“Her new look may not always be as appealing to many people as her previous look did.”

In January, controversy arose over the star’s appearance after she received a number of unpleasant comments.

These reactions came from online sources and from commentator Megyn Kelly, who accused her of having “Kim Kardashian lips” and described her appearance as “pretty disturbing, it’s a huge turn-off for me.”

Ms Moriarty quickly hit back, accusing the journalist of being ‘grossly misinformed, inaccurate and clickbait-seeking’ and accusing her of ‘bullying’.

She took a break from Instagram for a while and only returned after she said she had received messages from other women who had had a similar experience, with people commenting on their appearance.
