Plane passenger warns others to ‘NEVER switch seats’ after landing himself in a NIGHTMARE in-flight experience by giving up his spot to a woman who had stolen it from him

A frequent flyer has sent fellow travelers a PSA about changing seats after suffering a nightmare involving having to move five times when he reluctantly gave up his seat to another passenger.

The Unknown Man Took to Reddit to Share His Seat Swap Story That 'Permanently Changed' [his] I'm thinking of being nice and switching places with someone someday.ā€

He reignited the heated conversation about travel etiquette after a frequent flyer was applauded for refusing to change seats so a woman could sit by the window.

He shared his experiences in a thread dedicated to 'Delta Airlines– adding that the disastrous incident occurred eight years ago while he was on a flight from New York City to Utah.

A frequent flyer has shared his nightmare experience during his trip where he had to change seats five times while telling other travelers to 'never' swap passengers

He wrote: 'This was about eight years ago. I am very tired. Worked and tinkered in New York last week, my first trip ever there. I am completely exhausted from the long hours at work and the lack of sleep from going out at night.

'In the evening we fly straight back to SLC. I'm looking forward to falling into my chair; I prepared by taking some Nyquil sleeping pills. The seats you need to know are in row 12. ABC DEF.'

He clutched his card, which read 12F, in his hand as he walked through the plane.

Once he reached his aisle, he saw that there was a woman sitting in his assigned seat.

ā€œAs I walk down the aisle to my row. The CDEF seats are all filled. I'm holding my ticket for 12F. Of course I tell the woman in my seat that she has my seat.

ā€œShe claims it's hers and I must be mistaken. (See one sentence before I hold my card in my hand).

'She has to spend forever digging in her bag to find her ticket to see she has 12A and asks if I can just sit in her seat so she doesn't have to move because she's 'settled'. Fine. Same chair. I do not mind. I'm in 12A and I'm falling asleep,ā€ he said.

However, his nap was interrupted when the woman who took her seat came up to him and demanded her seat back.

ā€œA few moments later, the woman from 12F stands in the aisle and taps my shoulder and says she needs her seat. She's holding her ticket and says she has claustrophobia and needs her seat (12B is empty, so now 12A looks better than 12F),ā€ he explained.

Despite being sure she was 'full of s***' and only wanted the middle seat for herself, he trades with her again because it's officially her seat.

Passengers nearby notice this and tell the man that he is “nice” for putting up with the constant changing of seats.

ā€œI agree, but f*** it, I want to sleep so bad so I fall back asleep,ā€ he added.

However, his snooze is disrupted again when the same woman approaches him again.

'A few moments later the woman wakes me up again. She offers me 12A again because she is suffering from a panic attack and has decided to leave the plane. (The door was still not closed due to delay waiting for a pilot).

'I nod to 12E and tell him to take 12A. He would have a better seat than the middle seat, but he's 'settled' so hell, I go back to 12A, 12E of course slides to 12F and I go back to sleep,” he said.

And again the passenger is woken up – but this time by another traveler who now demands that he move so he can sit in 12A.

'A little later I am woken up by a man standing in the aisle and tells me I am sitting in his seat. He is holding a freshly printed ticket for 12A because the plane door is still open and he was assigned this seat after the claustrophobic woman left the plane.

'What can I do? He doesn't know everything that happened, at least it's officially his seat.

“I'm exhausted and I look at 12C and say, 'I'm sorry, I'm going to go to 12B for a moment, I'm not going to go back to 12E, who is now in my seat 12F. I'm going back to sleep,'” he added.

Of course his sleep doesn't last long. The man from seat 12A now offers him the backrest because he has decided to move to the back of the plane.

He explained: 'A few moments later I am woken up by the man in 12A who tells me I can sit in his seat as he is going to the back where there are more free seats.

“The plane has just closed its door after three hours at the gate and is getting ready for takeoff while I settle back into seat 12A to fall asleep.”

At the end of the post, he advised travelers to remain in their seats no matter what.

ā€œNever give up your place, people,ā€ he said.

People flooded the comments section and agreed with the man as many social media users shared their own experiences.

One person said: 'Dealed a million times.'

Another user added: 'This made me tired and angry just reading it. Wow.'

'I once had a window seat so I could lean over and sleep after work. Well, the guy next to me in the middle seat asks if I can switch and sit aisle side so his young son can look out the window.

ā€œOkay, I remember what that was like. What I didn't realize was that across the aisle were his wife and other children. The entire flight they talk over me, leaning over passing snacks and constantly getting up. Never change seats,ā€ someone else wrote.

Another said: 'Wow, you win the award for Craziest Seat Swap Story.'

'This is like my nightmare, I just want to be left alone on planes. Thanks for sharing,ā€ another user added.

ā€œMusical chairs,ā€ someone else said.

ā€œGreat story,ā€ another user added.

'I wouldn't switch if someone tried to 'deceive' me by sitting on the chair and playing 'dumb'. No. If someone politely asks to change seats of equal value and gives a good reason, such as next to family or friend, I would do so,ā€ someone else wrote.

Yesterday there was a passenger fiercely defended after he refused to switch seats with a married couple because the woman did not want to sit in the middle seat.

The anonymous man, 45, took to Reddit to share his travel experience while sitting in a window seat next to a man and a woman. He admitted that he refused to trade sweats with the woman sitting in the middle seat.

In the past, a frequent flyer has revealed that she refused to swap her window seat with an 'entitled' passenger who wanted to sit next to his wife.

The unnamed woman took to Reddit to share how she refused to move to a middle seat on an 11-hour flight from New York to Cairo, Egypt, so that the man sitting next to her could sit next to his wife.

The anonymous woman shared her story on the social media platform as a way to rant about the man under a thread captioned: 'TitledPeople', prompting others on the internet to condemn the man for asking someone else to switch to a lower quality seat so he could be happy.

The denial comes months after a man sparked a furious debate when he refused to give up his first-class seat for his boss, despite using his own credit card points to do so.

In the past, DailyMail.com's Jaci Stephen even gave her opinion, confessing that she “absolutely refuses” to switch seats, no matter how angry the passenger who wants to switch may get.
